Barry Hall was impressed with him, he's mobile and knows how to find the ball. He's good support in the ruck, gets around and contests, good over head but it was his kicking in difficult conditions that found his teammates often that impressed me.

Rookie option but I reckon another few clubs would have an eye on him for sure. Still young but looks to have a good frame on him that will fill out, athletic is a good description with sensible footy nous.

Sure we have our ruck stocks and KPF's but if we are looking to move on Jamar, this kid could be something and a decent late pick.

Norf must be disappointed that Majak will never make it, such a great athlete and physical specimen.

Just a shame he'll never have the skills to really dominate AFL.

But, then again, I never thought Minson would amount to much and now he's AA ruckman.

I know it was in a soft win against the bulldogs - ie. the standard is more akin to VFL than AFL but he kicked 6 earlier this year didn't he!

I think there's no reason he can't make it but it's still going to take time. I think his fitness still has a huge way to go which will help him get to the right spots more often.

Can someone tell me why Taggert doesn't get played on the wing/ through the midfield as a high half forward/midfielder? He was recruited as a midfielder but in the VFL he seems to be played as almost a permanent forward that occasionally runs on the wing. From the sounds of it he isn't a bad kick, is a good height for a midfielder and seems to make good decisions when going forward, just that he doesn't get a big opportunity to do so? I know he has had a few bags of goals but no where near consistent enough to warrant him to be a permanent forward?

It's a good question. For development reasons I would far rather see him play as a mid than Magner, Couch, Roden or McKenzie. He is a good height and weight, can get the ball and is a great kick. He is the type of player we are crying out for at senior level but was being wasted in the development squad on the weekend.

I got there at quarter time for this. Good summary of his game from what I saw - class above those around him, and used the ball well. Seemed to be in the centre square for most of the ball-ups, but also drifted forward - as indicated by the goals.

Thanks 'Tim', hopefully they might play him in the centre square a bit more at VFL level. Last year at Box Hill he had a great game doing just that. As a club we are crying out for mids and we have one who is a good size and can kick the ball yet we continue playing Couch, Magner and Rodan ahead of him.

From what I have been told Neeld told him he was better suited as a forward and has been played as 5th and 6th forward. FFS he is a good kick let him pass to the forwards. Go and ask Hulk Hogan if he likes Taggert to pass the ball to him.... Lace out go and watch the games.

Then you better read my post clearly because that is exactly what I am saying, he should be playing as a mid. We need mids and this kid is a good one, I don't see the value of playing Couch, Magner and Roden ahead of him. He showed in his game at Box Hill last year he is streets ahead of these guys as an AFL prospect.

The way he is being used you are probably right, I think he is a much better player than that.
