Casey Scorpions v Northern Blues

Featured Replies

Just a lazy 5 for Hogan with the shittest forward delivery of all time.

He's a certainty at Melbourne too with that sort of ability.

Some nice work from Barry too. He's definitely not timid.

Yeah, if that side could get the ball in Barrys hands more - they'd be far better off.

Good call on the delivery, it's shocking.

Jesse Hogan = Footy Porn. Nothing more needs to be said.

As long as there's no premature adulation.

Tappy should be creaming them at this level, and it's disappointing that he isn't.

Undeniable talent, just can't get enough of it.

Strauss is doing well. I have a lot of time for him and it drives me crazy that Nicholson is picked ahead of him time and time again.

Imagine what he'd be doing in the U18 championships! WA would romp it in...

Strauss best of the smalls so far IMO. Tappy's getting more of it and Magnet getting to many more contests. Nice tackle by Jetta on a much larger unit there in Bell to lock the ball in. I like Nicholls' bal use and ability to find space when he gets it

Casey getting dominated in the center square hit outs (at least it appears that way without looking at the stats) but doing well to scrap and hunt the ball (ball carrier) down and not let their opponents make too much of first use.

I hope people who wonder why Couch, Magner etc... don't get games watch today. Couch decision making is awful and Magner cant spread. There is no benefit playing them up a level. Strauss has been good and Tapscott has worked hard but has not been rewarded on alot of occasions.

Have you taken a close look at his action? He starts ok, but speeds up erratically, takes off to the right a bit like buddy but his leg swings from right to left like a terrible golf slice. Have a look at his leg follow through, its about a 45 degree angle There is a lot of work to do to make it smooth. There is a good reason he works on the kicking so much at training. It's not good.

EDIT: I reckon he's a cracker though...

It might not be textbook but it is natural and effective. Judge the kick on the quality of contact.

Hogan is a beast. Love him.

Like Barry he will be a good addition with some more size. Strauss and Davis both playing good games. Tap getting better as the game goes on.

Magner, tynan, taggert all ordinary.

Oh and Pedo good at this level but never seems to step up in afl

You're going by one game. Guessing you only ever see Casey on TV?

The point about Magner is twofold:

He was elevated for Grimes so only has limited time and still hasn't been selected despite excellent VFL form.

Our culture needs a lot of work, that is crystal clear. We should be rewarding consistent form and encouraging competition for spots. Despite that we continue to select players like Rodan, Nicholson, Blease, Pedersen etc on the back of 1 (and sometimes 0) decent VFL games.

And Magner's body language is questionable.

Couch goes hard and has a terrific attitude but he can't kick.

Could not be as comical as Kennedy WCE, surely?

Who is getting the hit outs?

Just mentioned that to someone else too. Usually it's not, but you can't help but wonder if he's just deflated from never being selected given the circumstances.

Has not been his usual self today.

Couch goes hard and has a terrific attitude but he can't kick.

If Couch was any good the Cats would've taken as. FS pick years ago, the guys to slow for AFL, but he's great at this level, just another one of Neelds nut job selections.

We have a 10+ year dominate FF on our list in Hogan. Our number 1 priority should be keeping him on our list and making him a life time Demon. There will be many wolves at the door but if we can do this it makes all previous heartache subside.

What a player he is! What do we do with Clark now haha

Anyone no anything about 45 for Casey, he goes ok.

I actually want to cry watching Hogan.

Can't remember the last time I was this in love with a player.

Bring on 2014, and FFS Melbourne lock him away for 10.

And Magner's body language is questionable.

Hardly surprising. He could get 50 touches and kick 4 goals and still not get a gig. I'm frustrated for him.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
