No it was produced and we were asked our opinion, I personally like Barcelona's on which it was based, so I was ok with it, but it had a couple of things most of us didn't like and they disappeared, it was replacing that hideous red V thing, so most asked were glad to see the back of it and probably agreed the emblem was good. I personally think it wouldn't have mattered if everybody disliked it, Schwab would have gone ahead anyway.

But at the moment personally I think it looks good, I don't want it replaced with a bloody cartoon demon, we have gone past that

Well, I'm pretty sure it won't be.

I used to love that cartoon Demon and every time he bounced onto our screen after a win. He used to turn up on my TV screen quite regularly during the late 80's. That was the period that got me supporting the club so I like both the 'Chinese Demon' shield logo and the animated one who used to bounce onto around after a Melbourne win.

hmmn 2.28 in.

I forgot what I'd missed all this time? :)

I know it seems a trivial thing to some, but I'm wondering if a few of us here could put our heads together to send a few new emblem ideas to the MFC?

With a whole new approach and image needed, the emblem is a big part of it, and to me the current one is a bit spiritless and directionless like our club has been.

I'm not trying to start a thread on thoughts on the current one, it's been discussed a bit, but more wanting to start a thread for any creatives on here to throw some ideas around and do something productive for the club we love. More of an ideas thread rather than a MFC bashing thread.

I'll get the ball rolling with a quickie from last night while up with a 3 week old...

You know what? It's not bad.

I'd like to see something that has the "Demon" aspect represented by a trident alone.

I don't think we need anything more.

The current logo looks far better without the background text.

Get a subtly stylised Demon head instead of the Southern cross and we have a winner.

I'd replace the footy with the trident and then remove the footy and southern cross altogether.

It's a definite improvement for sure. Still too corporate think tank for my liking. AFL logos don't need to be all fancy pants.

Could be rejigged if you remove the trident, football and southern cross and PICK a theme. My preference would be a demon, cause, ya know, we're the demons.

It looks a lot better as a flat image with block colours and no gradients.

It's a great improvement already.

I'd remove the football because I think it is redundant.

I think a trident alone is representative enough of a "demon".

The trick is to incorporate it so that it works.

Currently you need the 4 elements of the MFC insignia, the football, the trident and the southern cross for balance.

He awkward V-shape of the yoke dictates that.

I think the problem is that they have started off trying to literally copy the Liverpool shield, when it's not exactly suited to the facets you want to incorporate for the MFC.

But the flat version above is better than the previous one, and I'd happily change to that until a better solution is found.

I agree, the gradient version has too much going on so making it flat makes the key elements stand out. I don't actually mind our emblem and don't see a great need to change it, but having said that it is a very busy emblem that has tried quite hard to replicate Liverpool's emblem.

I possible idea would be to incorporate the silhoette of the demon at the bottom of the V and remove the trident, southern star, and ball.

Not a big fan of the current emblem I think a large amount of that is due to the management that produced it.

But to be honest it is not something I get hot and bothered about.

It is to me like the Clash jumper No big deal IMO

When we are a top four side I will concentrate on these small annoyances.

I like the fact that the emblem has 156 years of history in it.

Stripping it back to me is disrespectful to that history.

Remember the previous emblem. Cold sterile. No more than a business card.

At least this latest emblem is alive.

This is where I'm at.

I'd be happy to make those changes (remove the text and gradients) and instantly improve the logo greatly.

Once that's done I wouldn't mind if we stuck with that for another decade until a better solution can be found.

Maybe we should incorporate a photo of every player and member that has ever belonged to the club, within the emblem.

You know, just so we respect the history of the club.

You can't incorporate every little idea you have, unless you want it to look cluttered.

That's the biggest single problem with the emblem at this time.

Too many ideas crammed into one logo.

I like sushi. I drive a white car.

Relevance?

Fish!

But that's enough surrealism for a Tuesday.

I believe the current emblem is inspired in concept by the Barcelona fc shield - that's maybe why there's an Aussie Rules footy on it (as opposed to a soccer ball). As an emblem I like it, doesn't work so well as a logo though, perhaps because of its multiple elements.

As far as pre-match BS mentioned earlier in the thread goes. Fire-walking, team running around in a pentagram pattern instead of the centre-square, sacrifice of virgins etc all ok with me - just don't, whatever we do, bring back the trumpeter!

Sushi is great but not the topic.

Yes the Emblem is busy. The MFC has been through a lot. You don't like it. I do.

I am with wyl.

Of course the Emblem is busy.

If you'd been through what this club has been through - you couldn't represent yourself in a cereal box caricature.

156 years of inventing the game, dealing with war and depression, borne out of a Cricket Club and a Stadium - there is no simple logo that is going to do this club justice.

Got an email from the club about the launch of Demon Lounge hospitality or something for the Hawks game.

Anyway i saw they attached an emblem that seems a lot more cleaner, not as busy and it has been reshaped (little bit more unique). I know its for the Demon Lounge promotion but who knows..could be a teaser for a more permanent change in the near future. I have no idea how to add an image here? For the record i like it.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
