So our rookie midfielders get 82 touches between them at Casey, and our midfield is roundly hammered as the worst midfield in the league.

Surely they should be given a run, no ???

Been thinking the same thing myself!

Toumpas is not afl ready yet IMO, magner and or couch should be in the team.

I mentioned in another thread recently that at VFL level against Essendon McKenzie had 44 touches. There is a vast difference with form and how it translates at the next level. I asked Neil Craig recently if our focus is on contested ball, stoppages and tackles why neither of them were getting a game. His response was whilst both were ok in those areas they had work to do on their spread and with their ball use.

I dont understand the reference to Toumpas as they are different type players however I could understand if you wondered why Jordie and Rodan received games ahead of them. Toumpas showed enough last game as to why we need to develop him in the team and not at VFL where his form allows.

I think we need to get games into Toumpas, Blease and Viney.

And McKenzie's ball-use and spread is exemplary?

Pointing out that ordinary player X is getting a game is not a good justification for giving poor players Y and Z a game.

The argument is actually that ordinary player Y is less-ordinary than ordinary player X.

That about sums up the MFC at present

WE compare degrees of crapiness!

Yes I know it is not a word

Correct, and that we don't have any "A" grade players....sorry couldn't help myself!

I never hear Sydney say we need to get games into player x. I do hear them say we need to wait until player x is ready.

Problem is when we do that everyone says " why are we playing player W, he is a spud". Well the answer is we have to play 22 each week, and if only 10 are good enough, 15 aren't ready and 15 are spuds then someone is going to have a problem with who fills the last 12 spots.

RE Magner and Couch, they aren't good enough and won't make a difference. Ok they may get 20 touches but they won't be great touches, they won't be able to user options around due to lack of fitness and pace and they won't use the ball that we'll. They'll do ok though. But not enough to make that much difference.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
