Dees2014

Thanks, I was going to answer the same thing

Nice to see you have been in senior positions in Banking, that really fills me with confidence, GFC etc, I have worked in the Banking sector, never seen such a lack of good governance in my life, the rogue financial adviser from the CBA says hello........to actually denigrate somebody from another industry beggars belief.

You will find Kennett is not well thought of at the Big End of Town, you reversed the class war for a change, hence the lack of board positions he has...............

Not sure whether you are deliberately missing my point or you simply not getting it. I am not denigrating anyone, least of all any profession. All I am saying is that there are some professions who operate in the corridors of power and some that don't. I'm not sure that our proposed new leadership does that is all.

You can knock this or you can use it. I'm not sure how bringing up the GFC helps the MFC, but if you think it does then fine by me. From my part I'm more interested in ensuring we get the strongest possible MFC in the future, and if this means putting a few of the traditionalist noses out of join in the the short term then so be it.

Oh and by the way, last time I look, Kennet was on at least 6 corporate boards, and a further 3 charitable ones. He will need to resign a few if he leads us....

The Club already has the above, or hadn't you noticed, have a look at the Club Website, here's the link

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/the-club/people/staff-members

You are getting carried away with Jeff's rhetoric aren't you

I for one will always thank Jeff for Crown, I mean without it , we wouldn't have increased petty crime around Southbank, gambling addiction, money laundering, flaunting of community standards if you put enough cash across the poker table etc etc

I don't think you understand the model.

You still have your finance, marketing and HR guys as executives, but these are shadowed on the Board by people of very high expertise who act as advisors to the board and mentors to the functional heads. It is win-win.

This should now be in the Kennett topic rather than this one, I would check your facts about which Boards he is on by the way.

I'll put it less subtly, if Kennett or anybody from the Banking Sector were put up for the Board of MFC and I needed to vote, I wouldn't even need to think about it, my answer would be NO.....it's called trust

What job do you think Stuart Grimshaw has on the current Board? I can tell you, he is CEO of Bank of Queensland. Are you going to chuck him off on the basis of his current position. You should if you want to be consistent. He is by the way also one of the most capable current Directors. But go right ahead destroy one of our few current strengths for the sake of your ideology, but it has no place in building a strong football club.

Leoncelli left the board as none of the recommendations of the independent internal report were followed through.

Haven't heard that before

If that is correct, then we are at the nub of the problem. Did Schwab suppress It - or did the Board reject it?

It's ridiculous to slur a whole industry. Judge people on merit.

And Dees2014 is right about Grimsure... who by the way isn't even a Melbourne supporter!

Can you imagine how much $$$ we lost on monday on the Northern side of the ground just in food & beveridge sales, with people leaving early. Nobody wants to hang around after a flogging.

A complete disaster. Fingers crossed we have QB in 2014.

Of course you can judge a whole industry, you only have to look at the last 10 or so years, the lack of governance across the whole worldwide banking sector is deplorable,

As for Grimshaw, my rule applies, I would listen to what he has to say or what he has achieved for my Club, and balance that against my view of the Banking Industry, it is my right to vote whichever way I want if I have the opportunity, hence my comment.

It's called democracy, obviously you are more in favour of people with 'power' or 'influence' to make decisions for everybody, er not thank you

Can I just make this point. It is true Dicker did much of the ground work, but Kennett made it happen. And that is the point about him. He gets things done.

Interestingly, if you talk to political pollsters (which these days I do often) they will tell you about the huge disillusionment with politics in Australia across all age groups, demographics, ethnics groups, and political parties. They will also tell you the two politicians who are most respected, revered, and missed, are Paul Keating and Jeff Kennett, not only in Victoria, but nationally as well.

Why?

Because they had conviction, vision, and GOT THINGS DONE.

And guess what, Kennett can for us as well.

This is also not correct, because 'Dicker' went about his business without fanfare doesn't mean he needed Kennett to make things happen. Dicker set it up and followed through. Jeff took over a well oiled machine that even he struggled to sabotage, not that he didn't try.

Well he has stated that he wants a corporate model much like group leadership team of a major corporate with senior functional heads, I assume covering marketing, finance, operations (read football dept), HR (staff and recruitment) and himself and the CEO.

To me this makes a lot of sense and probably means they will be paid as well. I have seen this corporate model work often in the past, I have no doubt it could work here

the gang of 5

well, who are they. your backing him, you must be doing so on more than Hot Air? & gas bags?

what have you decided, er heard?

I am sure they should. It is a home game.

If it is not part of the ground agreement it just shows another level of incompetence on behalf of the present regime.

The MCG is not Etihad.

Wish you wouldn't go back and edit a few posts in, I nearly dropped my coffee, Keating and Kennett missed?.....are you actually living in a parallel universe.

Kennett got things done by stomping all over people, and not tidying up the mess behind him, if he is so brilliant, why isn't he the longest serving Premier still, because eventually people saw through him

Keating was, actually just see below

The reason that most people are disillusioned these days is because they are now well informed enough to realise that all politicians are only interested in one thing........themselves

All politicians are morally corrupt, Labor are the worst, it is full of ex unionists whose only job since leaving uni with an arts degree is working for a union or in a ministers office, they wouldn't know a real job if it came and bit them on the arse

Liberals just want to make money, the Greens are your local psychotic Neighbourhood Watch volunteer, and the Independents just offer their backsides up to whoever will keep them in Parliament

I didn't back track, I actually said I would vote no now to anybody new, if he is up for election again, if there is a choice, I would have to look at it, there is a difference

I have worked in quite a few industries, again you will get a cynical view, unfortunately these days it is all about making a dollar, that is all that matters

I don't want Jeff Kennett as Premier, but let's just keep in mind the start of the process to have a casino in Victoria commenced when Joan Kirner was Premier. Feel free to knock Jeff for the things he was responsible for, though.

Not sure this is the right place to argue politics. If you want my political views read my blog at mikes2014.com.

Suffice to say what I quoted was what the general populace thinks (according to those who should know, the pollsters). There is no point in arguing with me about it, try and convince the general populace if you think you are that good.

You are right Dees2014 ,this is a ridiculous place to argue politics.

That still doesn't stop many from flogging their viewpoints up and down the forums .

The result is the equivalent of a drunken shouting match in a country pub at closing time with Bob the Farmer and Sandy the Barmaid kicking out Johnny the Ex-teacher because he supports a new hospital or some such .

It gets ugly in its simplicity.

The loss of complexity/subtlety is the main problem in most debates.

Anyway ,at least religion is kept out of most discussions here.

I haven't read your blog but I will give it a crack-hope you don't mention the Demons because I may have to skip that bit .

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
