Not sure what you mean by Kennett's ticket.

As far as I am aware the next AGM is scheduled for February 2014.

I think there may be two or three vacancies, any full member may stand.

I believe the constitution was changed after the last insurrection, to stop this type of un democratic upheaval.

'delivered draft picks' I can't tell if your joking or not? - Most demonlanders hate the emblem but I like it and as for the 'clearing our debt' - that was the work of Jim Stynes and our faithful supporters not the board. If anything it is the poor structured board that caused the debt and will be the cause of the epic looming debt that is about to hit us hard.

hahaha.... I didn't say they got the selections correct.... But you might have missed that....

Jimmy Stynes was apart of the current board.... Just because you don't want to believe it, doesn't mean its not true.... But separate jim and the board if you like.....

Yes Bluey you are quite correct. It does depend very much on the wording in the constitution as to how any spill of board positions may occur. Im fairly sure any full member can ask for a copy? Im not sure if an upheaval is undemocratic tho.

If I recall, the constitution was changed by President Szondy, the cost to the club for the extraordinary Joe ballot was enormous, something like 200/300k.

I am certain the % was changed so that at least 60% of members must agree for a spill to take place, but have not been able to find the detail yet.

The Stynes take over of the Gardiner team, was really just a knock on the door, and agreement reached.

You are kidding right ?

The current board have delivered draft picks and have cleared our massive debt, this should not be forgotten

I can't find the specifics either but this is what will happen. There will be small changes but no revolution.

And it is to the benefit of the club that there is no revolution.

Amicable and bloodless.

Our 'revolutionaries' are not chatting up Kennett - they are chatting to the club.

Thats up to the members to decide.

Better get it going then - an extraordinary meeting is required. As it stands now, there will be no spilling of all positions.

You remind me of the kid that sits at the front of the class and sticks his hand up at every opportunity , a pain in the back side, how many signatures does it take for an extrodinary meeting Einstein?

Wtf? He's engaged in the discussion and providing information that others might not know. Probably much like the kid in your class.

For Kennett to challenge, he may need to gather 100 signatures from members to call an extraordinary general meeting, and hope he then has enough support at an election.

thats all...100 . The extraodinary AGM would therefore have its own agenda.
Many are either turning a blind eye to reality or simply aren't getting it.
The whole board CAN be spilled, if thats the motive of the meeting's instigators. That folks is how 'coups" in these arenas happen.
Happy to stand corrected , if you can show where and how. I am , like many only after the truth of the matter.
By noting this I back no one ( currently ) only trying to show how easily this may all happen.

The board must go. They have had the opportunity to discuss things at normal Board meetings.

It proves they either have voted to agree on all aspects of the Agenda or just went with the flow.

Either way they have put the club where it is.

As for Kennett, he was a great premier of this state, he had an overwhelming passion for Victoria.

He proved to be a great President for Hawthorn, because of his passion for the club.

He does not have the passion for Melbourne nor would he ever have near enough commitment to run a board with members that have a long history of Melbourne support.

You are hearing the voice of a bored man that needs something to do.

100 votes, gee John Pierik, it just goes to show what a complete clueless buffoon he is.

We would be having a meeting every second day.

Totally against Kennett. One of the most divisive public figures in the state. A loose canon (eg sack Clarkson after round one) Send Melbourne to Gold Coast or whatever. He says things for the sake of hearing his own voice. May have some skills and contacts, but little wisdom. All about Jeff.

It didn't take long for the board to see you cann't work with the Gutnicks and thus the Kennetts of this world. Both want to be saviours. Its all about the Joseph's and the Jeffs...forget the club

Funny because the kid at the front with his hand up is normally also the one who achieves well and who ends up successful, while the one at the back sitting out and calling people names thinks he is the coolest and winning the race at the time but quickly realises he is going no where after school finishes.

Hopefully if somebody good turns up the current board rolls over. As much as I'd love an election for the option to put two sides up against each other and have them put their plans forward for the members to vote on the last thing we need at the moment is to be spending 100k+ putting on a postal vote for them to duke it out.

Even if it means some board members survive under new leadership then so be it to save us the money that we can't afford to spend at the moment.

Still got to get somebody to oppose the current board AND get them to agree to pull the pin though, otherwise it'll be just the usual two directors resigning at the end of their term and putting themselves back up for election.

I don't know where the article saying you only need 100 votes for an EGM is getting its information but the constitution says a meeting other than the AGM can only be called by the board or "a director". There's no mention in there at all about a number of signatures of members to trigger a meeting.

I wouldn't neck myself if Kennett ended up with the job but I'd rather we found somebody else who has the same aims but doesn't want to make it all about themselves. Don't care if they're an MFC fan or not if they can do the job.

I agree. The rush for some to get Jeff Kennett are at odds with PJ's advice that we need to take a deep breath and see where the club is at.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
