I know he's undersized but Garland is our next best defender. Maybe its time we throw him the challenge. And the pies are likely to just play Cloke and Lynch so is there a case for replacing Frawley with a small. I suppose the question is who is our next best defender is it a tall or small? Is it Sellar or is it Nicholson or can we bring in another midfield and have Howe play half back?

I think Sylvia needs to come straight back in he dosnt need a run in the twos, Tmac obvious repacement for Frawley. Mackenzie dosnt seem the player from a couple of years ago but probably being asked to have a positive imapact now rather than just being the tag and thats not his game.

Tappy's big body would be handy but they need Byrnes experience.

Watts really frustrates me!!!!! Great skills and glimpses of effort but just cant get it together for a whole game. Only have him in the side because I recon he just and only just does enough to keep a spot but dont care if he wants to go, provided we get a half decent midfielder as a trade.

Sylvia in is a given. Sellar in for Frawley ahead of Davis is a given also I believe given the size of Collingwoods forwards, I think against St Kilda after the bye would be a much better place to debut Davis. Blease should also get a run as he's put some solid weeks together back at Casey and his run will be well needed.

As for the outs as we know Frawley is foced. Bail although nt terrible on the weekend just has a lack of polish and losses out with Sylvia coming back and Evans having shown more then Bail over the previous week. Matt Jones I think is just starting to show the signs of the rigours of his first AFL season. I'd make him the designated non playing emergency this week leading into the bye to allow him 2 weeks to freshen up. I'd also do the same with both of Tom McDonald and Shannon Byrnes who are in line to return from injury this week. Give them the extra week heading into the bye to make sure they're cherry ripe to go for the 2nd half of the season.

I know some people have also called for Fitzpatrick to be dropped and he was far from impressive on the weekend, but I want to see him given a few games ina row to see what he can do. He keeps coming in for 1 game and then out the following week. Give him this game and the Saints game and if still no good then he can be Gawn for Gawn and will probably be Gawn at seasons end also.

Those wanting Couch to play, the club can't play him even if they wanted to. Magner has already been promoted due to the long-term injury to Grimes. There's no other spot open for a rookie to be promoted to the senior list.

For me, Sylvia comes straight back in, and if Sylvia has improved his defensive efforts, as was suggested in the VFL report, he can come in to provide some run and carry on the wing.

If we bring Sylvia back in, then Magner doesn't need to come back in my mind. Sylvia can come in for Bail I reckon.

Jamar should also stay, because we've been more competitive in the clearances with him palming the ball down.

With Frawley out, I think Sellar is the logical choice to come in purely to matchup with Cloke. He's a bigger body, and I don't think it would be smart to bring Davis in for that match-up.

So I reckon:

Outs: Frawley (Inj), Bail, M Jones (might need the rest)

I would put Sylvia in the middle. Blease in the half forward line, and Sellar at full back to take Cloke.

I am amazed that people are calling for Fitzy or Joel Mac to be dropped. Someone also mentioned Rodan getting dropped because "he won't be there when we are playing finals". FMD, half the team won't be there by the time we're ready to play finals.

Sylvia's suspension came at a time when we needed him the most, and was due to a dog act. He does not deserve an instant recall, and should regain his spot through the reserves.

How about you back it up with a list of their players who have been suspended this year, what their charge was, their sentence, and where they played their first week back.

Carlton fined Waite for getting a 1 week suspension as they believed he was the difference between winning or losing against St Kilda, the difference being a potential spot in the 8. We are a long way from that.

I like the outside the square thinking. Four Ins and three Outs. Should help even things up...but probably still won't be enough.

Not sure there'll be wholesale changes, would be good for a bit of stability to stick fat, as far as possible.

Sylvia in for ... Tapscott or Bail, Tom MacD in for Frawley. Not sure having both Sellar and Pedersen in is a great idea, and feel that Pedersen has earned a bit of a run at it after a few more than decent performances at Casey.

Blease I think they'll give another week at Casey - though he may well be named on the extended list.

Minimal changes. I say again, bring in Magner for Bail. If Sylvia is ready to go then maybe he can have the Bail spot instead. Nothing else needs to be changed.

Totally agree on minimising the changes. We need to start solidifying the line up. The effort against Hawthorn was good. We just weren't good enough.

Yeah, Gawn is the tough one. I don't think he should come in as first ruck though, and it's obvious that he's been playing more as a key forward than a ruck, so to me you don't bring him in for Jamar. Fitzpatrick should get more time. Yeah he wasn't great, but he brought the ball to ground a couple of times, and was good at getting into space on the lead. He deserves a few more games. He certainly showed more than he has previously.

Given Fitzpatrick would be the other obvious swap for Gawn, I think Gawn stays at Casey for another week, just to give Fitzpatrick some more time.

However, the future is exciting thinking about what Gawn could become.

McKenzie, Dunn and Rodan are just as likely as those other 3 to feature beyond 13! Sylvia could leave and I've seen nothing from Davis or Nicholson to suggest they aren't VFL players. Rodan of course we probably don't need but McKenzie will stay and I think Dunn can at least dominate VFL and show something at AFL. McKenzie is actually an important player to this team because he sets the bar for defensive work rate for these midfielders. Until others eclipse him he gets a spot and that could take quite a few years.

I did notice Bail involved in play early but it seemed after that he resorted to getting nowhere near it and butchering the ball. A particular sideways kick at half back was a killer.
