Just a quetion, I would appreciate honest opinions and probably informative opinions for that matter to... But, what are our goals for this year? what exactly is the direction we are moving in? and how?

I'll voice for the majority of Demonland on this one...

Our goals

To not try onfield

To kill off support for the club

Recruit VFL standard talent

Make confusing statements as a coach in the media

Generally not try and blame everyone else on field

Think i've covered most of it...

I just want to know, is it be more competitive? if so what will that be judged on? tackles? pressure acts?

I ask because i was discussing it with a friend and he posed the ame question to me... and i could not answer. I was simply dumb founded

Yeah, yeah.....as simple as that. And how simple is getting Roos or Chocco to our basket case? Why would they want it?

And do you really think that getting one or other to us would turn us around? How long do you think it would take? 1 or 2 years? Would you be calling for their sacking mid second year if we were still struggling?

No...I don't have the answer, but it is not that simple after all.

Much as we all hate the concept of merely "being competitive", you have to walk before you run: chasing, tackling, caring for the team and teammate, harassing, running, caring for the team and teammate, making position, running, getting off their collective arses, running, caring for the team and teammate, and by the way, running, would be a real sign of progress.

As Kanga Kennedy once said, with ultimate success: "Just do something!"

I think there are too many unanswered questions to give a detailed answer. I'm like the other 99% disheartened Supporters on this site and am not happy with what Neeld has produced to date. If anything I'm more confused on what his direction and 5 year plan is.

Having said that and trying to read between the lines, my guess is Neelds goals for this years are as follows:

1: give as much game time and experience to the younger players but trying to not burn them out in the process.

2: I think he's happy with his forward line structure Dawes, Clarke, Hogan, Howe (although I think we should have some quick/explosive smalls, which I think we're lacking).

3: I think he's also reasonibly happy with defense (with more game time)

4: he would have to be stupid not to know how much we're getting killed on the middle.

With those in mind, I reckon he's playing out this year hoping for a better win/loss ratio than last year. But banking on bringing in some experience in the guts come trade time at the end of the year.

I may be completely wrong with the above.

Survive the next three tough weeks (Freo at Subi, Hawthorn, and Collingwood), hold our nerve and not sack anyone during the bye, get the kids their much needed nap time.

Reload and see how we go against the Dogs and Saints after the break, and launch a respectable second half of the season from there, particularly as we get a few core players back from injury.

And the missing ingredients are confidence and initiative. And five quality midfielders.

Restore the first two, we might have a shot at trading or drafting the five, or discovering we've had them all along.
