I honestly believe the players dislike Neeld they certainly do not put their bodies on the line for him if anything when they get a chance to make the situation worse they seem to do it

The comment by Jackson that we haven't honestly seen if he can coach is a worry as it means Neeld will get time to further destroy our club

Actually from what I gather I think he has a good relationship with the players he has now. Most of them have "bought in" or were "brought in". It's just for whatever reason he just can seem to motivate then.

In all honesty I think he means that "he" does't know if Neeld can coach, he has to make decisions affecting the future of the club and if that's the case I hope he makes the right ones; I doubt he would have had the time to establish whether he can coach or not.

He is not going to react the way the supporters are reacting he is going to establish what the facts are first, then act.

Surely even if we go the mid-season dismissal (I'm not a fan) we will wait until after the horror next 4 games - Richmond, Freo at Subi, Hawthorn and Collingwood.

After that the marginally more reachable Bulldogs and Saints would give a new or stand-in coach a chance to look competitive and to refresh morale.

I believe I get top points for ruthless thinking, there!

We should be able to at least compete with those sides, more importantly the way we are playing the players will have even less confidence after the next four weeks,

i think we need to take the chance a change would spark something, if it doesn't we are no worse off, i don't see how Neeld could last out the year anyway.

mark robinson seems to think so

Not interested in anyone currently at our club being a caretaker and that includes Neil Craig

We should first sack that incompetent board that seems to have escaped any scrutiny on past decisions and not invite ex players like Lyon and Co to make more train wreck decisions

To get an ex senior AFL Coach such as Mathews , Roos , Eade , Ayres, Wallace, Williams, Knights or even one who is current like Worsfold or Clarkson and you need to ask the obvious of why would they want to take the job on

IMO we have had too much interference within the football department (Schwab / Connolly)

For us to go forward i think we need the largest broom in the clubs history to get rid of what i and a lot of other supporters deem as a toxic culture

While i don't believe in the curse of norm smith i do think its a similar disease that starts at board level

I really only have 2 coaches i would at least want to interview and that's Alan Richardson and Nathan Bassett although there is sure to be many more worthy of consideration

The problem i see is that we are risking taking on another Rookie Coach

I really think we have little choice

Question is will Jackson & board & us poor supporters put up with this garbage?

We have Rich,Freo,Haw,Coll...which may result in a total loss of over 400pts!

How long can you continue to hurt the brand,,gate receipts etc......

You will see many held to account as its almost criminal whats occurred......over 6 yrs of early picks, poor player development & we have no midfield!

Rotten culture inc Tanking has seen players leave & senior list treated with no respect!

Jackson is the 1st Ceo & melb person I would say has made any sense & has made this conclusions in just 6 days!

Cant understand that we are so far behind the power clubs ...as identified by Jackson

Why delay the inevitable? Get it done and move on. The longer this inept Board of ours delay, the more long-term damage.

As has been talked about on radio, any coach that can drag the MFC out of this diabolical hole and back to respectability will arguably be known as the greatest coach of all time. whether we win a flag or not.

I reckon there would be a few egos out there willing to take that gamble, and the more the merrier.

More importantly the potential of the AFL contributing towards a huge pay packet.

You could also claim that they don't like Neil Craig because he is in the footy dept, or perhaps they don't like Don McC, or maybe they had a disagreement with their line coach? Or maybe they don't like the bloke lining up next to them in the forward pocket so they didn't bother trying. Lack of effort on the field does not reflect whether the players like the coach or not.

Also, how come you can't take Jackson at face value when he says he doesn't know whether Neeld can coach or not?

It seems like everyone just wants Jackson to come in and find a solution that involves proving their opinion correct. If Jackson doesn't do what any particularl person wants they'll just argue Jackson is making a mistake.

Let Jackson do his thing and trust in it. Or put your hand up for the board at the next election. Or call a SGM and put your hand up there. If you are a paid member you have the right.

Sorry. My prediction. :P

It's not a bad prediction mate, if the board is happy to accept getting flogged by ten goals by gold coast we have bigger problems than the coach.

Hopefully Craig will take over, and hopefully we can get rid of some of the deadwood "Assistant/Line Coaches".

Amateur Hour.

What makes you think Craig isn't part of this problem too? Craig and Rawlings are both axed senior coaches.

I don't want to hate him, nor do I want to hate my club, but it's venturing into that territory. I hate what the club has become and though Neeld is not solely responsible, he carries a large portion of blame. He's been a disaster.

Supporters have had enough of this dross. He has to go. HAS to go.

Do I think he'll get sacked this week? Sadly not. We're at least in for a few more weeks of pain before Jacko thinks about pulling the pin. Hopefully in wrong and we get some hope of change with an announcement this week.

I have absolutely no faith in the board that they'll be able to select his predecessor correctly either. Just don't let f'ing Lyon near it.

The one thing I will say is that Jackson, on Triple M before the game, was eminently impressive.

Cannot believe that the staunchest supporters of this club live and die by the biggest turncoat in the league's words.......

Probably a reflection of what we've become as a club.

Constantly looking for the instant miracle cure, not willing to do the hard yards required.

Turning this club around fully could be a lifes work for a good operator, there is no fast fix when repairing something that has been so badly broken for so long.

This seemingly runs so much deeper than simply sacking the coach, as he is only a part of our problems.

Neeld is an insipid and lifeless coach, and most of the players are yet to develop or are no good.

We cant do anything about the players mid season, but we can do something about the coach.

That is why he has to go.

Jackson has been talking about how the early sacking of CS has cost the club and that we will be 1.5 million out this year. To sack Neeld would require paying out another contract with over a year to run on it, plus paying another coach to come in. It could well blow us out past the 3 million dollar mark. This if nothing else will see Neeld safe through this season.

So you have to consider that potential 3 million against the loss of gate money, loss of members and potential walkout of players if we continue on a path that is clearly not working, for me we should bite the bullet now.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
