Neville Jetta Report

Featured Replies

doubt he will get more than 1 week - I think he has a good record and Whitfield was fine

I'm sure whitfield acted, it was a delayed response to a brush past, & after he realised what happened, & he could earn a free. he fell to the ground like the best Holywood Wild West gunslinger.

It seemed to me that he left the ground before the kick, and hit after the kick, but I'm not sure. When you're committed as he was, some sort of contact was inevitable. He may be suspended, I hope not for too long.

Demon of 1994... be careful of dumbarse comments like that or you risk being labelled a cast iron tool!

Hang on, you're kidding right?

It was a dirty play, everything thinks he'll get weeks, and he played very average.. I don't get your point.

I'm going to get 'labelled', because i don't think the sun shines out of Jetta's ass like many of the people on here.

I respect all the stuff you did with organising the training the other week, but bad call mate

Cop 3 down to 2.

Jetta has flummoxed me from day one, I must see him differently cos he seems to pick and choose when he chases or attacks the ball.

I honestly don't know why he seems to be pumped up on his site.

In my opinion it's because he works hard off the ball which a lot of players on our team don't do.

Late in the 2nd term the ball was deep in GWS'S forward line and Jetta was running the ball out of defence. Sylvia was calling for it short just outside the defensive 50 but instead Jetta went long to the wing (can't remember who) and they took a mark out there. Sylvia then proceeded to give Jetta a mighty spray while Jetta just pointed to where he kicked it and sprinted past Syvia who was still giving Neville lip,

Jetta kept gut running forward into the 50 to provide a traget and was passed the ball but with a horrible kick that went over his head. Jetta then kept running and provided a sheppard (could have been a better one) for Byrnes who then dribbled a much needed goal from the boundary. All the while the higher paid and more highly regarded Sylvia was still standing in the middle of the ground.

If more of our players worked as hard as Jetta does we'd be a much better team.

Entitled to your opinion but I reckon he was good.

He made some mistakes but he often went back in and made up for those mistakes in the same passage of play.

As soon as his suspension comes to an end he'll come straight back in.

And if that was a dirty play then I'd hate to think what you thought of footy back in the 70's and 80's?

Too bad it wasn't $cully on the end of that bump! he will surely get a suspension though, probably 1-2 weeks. good to see some real mongrel though.

Fair call, but in all fairness, what is 'dirty' and what isn't is different nowadays.

Obviously it wasn't Grinter-esque, but I believe that by modern day standards, it's what could/should be considered a dirty play. If he had stayed on his feet, could've been a different story, but the fact is he took his eye off the ball, and made contact with his head that couldn't be at all seen as 'fair'. It's extremely similar to Ryder's one, so i'd say about 3 weeks is the precedent to which he'll be punished.

nah, yours is the bad call mate.

he was haivng a dip, maybe he made a judgement error, but yours is in the light of day.

his was under pressure & showed the desperation this Team & Club is So short of, & you want to wipe whitfields nose for him.

yours Is the attitude that has stopped this club from winning over the journey since the Mid 60's... I guess you would absolutely hate Sheedy. winner of Many Premierships.

Demon 1994... maybe I went a little hard but when I see comments like this... "Hope he gets rubbed out, he's hopeless anyway"... about one of our blokes, I get fired up!

I like Neville. Every decent team has a few blokes that put the wind up the opposition. Scan the teams for this round and you'll see what I mean. Nev is a little bloke who has shown a lot of courage during his short career. He has had injury issues but he always has a red hot go when given the opportunity. I don't want him doing things that require he fronts the tribunal because I believe he's a valuable contributer onfield. I don't think there was a lot in today's incident... 1 week for mine!

12 possessions, 6 clangers, 3 frees against

One of the best

If you want to talk stats, he also had 6 tackles.

What doesn't come up in the stats is his chasing, his blocking and his willingness to get to the next play.

Want to wipe Whitfield's nose for him? Right...

And I'd rather that 'desperation' be aimed at getting the ball - something he needs to do much more.

Play the ball, not the body. Clearly you're 'dee-lusional' if you think that we would've won flags in the modern era simply by jumping up and hitting guys in the head who aren't looking.

I'm all for toughness- i badly wanted someone to clean up Scully - but I'm also an advocate of doing it fairly.

Make them work for possessions, but keep on your feet and hit them fairly. No place for hitting guys in the head in modern football, all you're going to do is get suspended, and considering so many people on here love Jetta, I'm guessing you would all prefer him lining up for the Dees next week.

Fair call mate, I just get frustrated at how he plays sometimes. Watching him on the track, he looks great, but it often doesn't transfer to games.

I'm not usually one for singling out players, I'm one of those guys who goes to training each week to support the guys. I just don't like when someone is blindly loved by people on here, despite the fact that his performances (I believe) haven't warranted it.

Just my opinion though, make of it what you will.

& now your twisting words around to fit your story.

Neville won't get kicks like that, but he did plenty of good work today with little confidence.

but his low confidence didn't stop him, he kept on keeping on, he ran, he tackled, chased, & generally worked for his teammates.

He was a contributer to the win. worked hard when others weren't.

D94 should be on the rules of the game committee. Another netball supporter who got tricked into football.

It was high, it wasn't hard or dangerous. I don't understand why we have players rubbed out for minor contact. It reminds me of guys getting rubbed out for punching a bit of head when trying to spoil the ball. Trivial, inconsequential should be let go.

Ok, well we're not going to get anywhere arguing about it, you won't change my opinion, I won't change yours. Let's just leave it and be happy that we (finally) got a win today.

I loved it, we where getting smashed and nev like the supporters in the stands had enough. Good on him it will cost him 2 weeks but at least he cares.

There was another example of his courage earlier in the game where he set an example that others should follow. He was in 'hot pursuit' of a GWS player with the ball and one of the other GWS players decided to try and bump him out of the way. Instead of changing his angle to reduce the impact, Jetta just dropped his shoulder and went right through him. If only, we could teach that attitude.

Didn't recall the previous report. Bugger will be 3 at least for sure. Left his feet, high, intentional, late, medium contact.

Surprise, Jetta went in hard and hit someone... When they weren't looking.

Hope he gets rubbed out, he's hopeless anyway.

Anyway though, happy days, great last term, awesome to finally get a win

What game where you at or were you still at training he did loads in the first half only went of once when tackled crudely,

Wish more guys had his hard at it attitude.

And hoping a melb player gets rubbed out for that soft bump you are a [censored]

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
