A preview of the game on the VFL site - Bombers v Scorpions preview

Worth going down to Windy Hill for nostalgic reasons and also to catch a look at the premises opposite the road from the ground which form the basis of so much of what's in the news in the sport of late.

& Jack, give a wave to the old bowlers who maneuvered the "Flying High team", out to a new hangar. :)

Not sure if this has been covered, but, is there a reason as to why Barry is missing from the squad?

Casey lead 4.2.26 vs Ess 2.4.16

Hogan couple nice plays, good pickup and hands in one motion, impressive from a hulk

Wind would be favouring Ess, mostly across the ground but defiantly more that way

Daniher is a giant, skinny but a giant,

26 vs 22 as daniher kicks a long goal

Narrow quarter time lead to the Scorps - 4 points in an entertaining game.

Casey Scorpions 4.2.26 lead Essendon 3.4.22

Goals: Page 2 Best Kearns

Honours about even after the Scorps kicked the first three goals of the match. Bombers are brim full of Essendon listed players and playing with a lot of pep!

Qtr time Casey 4.2.26 to EFC 3.4.22

Best players Strauss, Hogan, Spencer and Page.

Hogan 5 kicks 2 handballs 3 marks

Great - I have been waiting for Strauss to start dominating VFL. He had a good game last week and if he has a good game today I think that will put him in the mix for next week. Although I would like him to show good form in VFL next week as well (3 weeks in a row) before giving him a shot in AFL. I think consistency will have a big impact on his confidence.

There is always a place for a player with a good kick in our team.

Late fightback by the Bombers but Casey had all the answers and lead by near on five goals at the main break. Some nice co-operation between Jack Fitzpatrick and Jake Best of the Scorps produced goals for both players.

Half time: Casey Scorpions 11.6.72 to Essendon 6.8.44

Stats: McKenzie 20, Rodan, Spencer, Couch,Nicholson 11,Hogan 10

Goals Best Page Rodan 2 Couch Fitzpatrick Kearns Taggert Tynan

Looks like Neelds game plan works, and more importantly the players understand it.

Thanks for the first half update guys.

Half time Casey 11.6.72 EFC 6.8.44

Rodan,Couch and Taggert prominent. McKenzie lots of ball but poor disposal.

Kent I believe has not touched it in the first half.

He's clearly bought in to the defensive crticism then but to the detriment of his natural game.

spencer and fitz have been dominant in the ruck, and around the ground their 1 percent and pressure acts have been superb. Spencer easily bog at half time for mine I

taggert has done some very nice things is a very good size now.

blease,rodan both been busy.

hogan has taken some nice grabs on long leads. daniher shaded him so far, reminds me of Paul salmon.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
