THE RAT'S CLACKER CUP

I'm very confident that MFC will win this one. (Famous last words?)

If not, the Club should change its theme song to The End. (For all the youngies, it's a song by The Doors.)

Our treatment of Toumpas has been terrible and it continues. What are our development plans for players? What is going on at this football club?

How does Watts put in two shockers, get dropped, not play anywhere and then return straight away?!

Poor Jimmy, he must be a bit disheartened and probably pretty confused. Especially when guys like Sylvia get selected week in week out.

This week has reminded me of BH's line - this club gives me nothing.

Because Slyvia has had more impact on the three games played so far this year than Toumpas has!

FWIW, and file under "unconfirmed", but was wondering why he wasn't listed anywhere:

"The reason Dom Barry was not named at Casey this weekend is because he is under a club imposed ban. He got home at 5am after the North Ballarat game."

So the club is again derelict in it's duty to develop young players! How could they have not provided Dom with a Sat Nav so he could findhis way back to Melbourne is a disgrace!

ooohhh right.... Col's fault or was he sporting a beard and got locked up in Ballarat?

Im just hoping for a win. I dont care that its GWS. After this week we just need something good to happen. I want the new guys to have a win and for Neeldy as well.

If we lose I cannot even fathom what next week will be like. I think id just dig a hole and bury myself in it.

Simple really - supporters typically base selection each week on viewing 120 minutes of footy from the week before, quite often on Foxtel.

Match committees at all AFL clubs, however, also take other things into consideration when selecting sides each week. For instance, they also look at how players train ALL week as something relevant to team selection - not something that most of us get line of sight on.

Regardless the treatment and the handling of Watts is another bad judgement call by Neeld.

Still getting high on Neeld's bruise free football Ron?

TripleM or AFL Match Centre

On the Casey game thread, someone posted that they spoke with Dom and he said he has a hamstring problem.

Dont want to make this a Jack Watts thread but I wonder why they havent played him on a wing where he can drift back and forward to provide the extra man in defence and an additional target up forward. He does seem to have pace and does have an excellent sense of creating space. If his teammates looked for him and worked off him he could perhaps get his confidence back and regain his skills which have been so noticeably affected

I tend to agree that If he showed the committment to run hard both ways the wing in a role similar to what Richo played late would be his best position for the side. If he is willing to work it is hard to tag a player of his size.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
