Thanks for the thread folks.

Saved me the bother of watching the programme.

Maybe later you can edit the opening post to say that the discussion on the actual program starts from page...

Ok P_Man... that's the sort of dis-connect that can be alleviated without a with-hunt and a hanging. There were times when the message from one of the most highly regarded coaches in AFL history wasn't getting through (ref Shane Zantuck incident circa 84)...

It's all a game to the media, they kick the [censored] out of us because it's easy and we are easy; there's plenty to choose from. Then after they've nearly kicked us to death and there's no more mileage left in the story, they look for another angle.

Now it's the "poor Melbourne what can we do to help this proud club"' watch the [censored] printed from now on and you'll see more and more of this. None of these pricks care about us and if they can fill a story about us folding or reviving they will; it makes no difference to them which way it goes.

They will print the truth or they will print crap, it doesn't matter as long as the story is on time and makes the news cycle.

Yeah we've stuffed up and deserve what we get, but equally we deserve the truth not some made up [censored] from a journalist too lazy to check his facts.

first ? should be was neeld the right choice...

or does a very young playing group with bugger all leaders need a expreianced coach to balance things out...

P_Man... "He raised the apparent disconnect between the coach and the players" Are you sure this is not a beat-up? I haven't heard a current player speak poorly of Neeld. I haven't heard any evidence that the playing group feels disconnected. Are you merely drawing this conclusion from physical evidence presented as 'the pre-game address'? I'm hearing that that piece of video was shot a few hours before the game. This may be incorrect, but what if it was shot quite a bit before the players ran out? ... Wouldn't that go part of the way to explaining the players being laid-back? I've also heard commentators referring to Neelds twitch and strained facial expression as a sign of his crubling under the pressure. If they had done their homework they would be aware that he has had corrective surgery for a damaged nerve and he has some involuntary muscle contortions.

A coach has the power to end a players career. They do so on regular occasions by cutting them at the end of a season.

A player rarely talks bad about a coach whilst both are at a club. It just doesn't happen very often. A player's way of protesting about a coach is to simply not play for him or to ignore him.

I very much doubt that we will see one of our player's come out and criticize the coach publicly or privately. He could ruin his own career. As for fronting a coach behind closed doors, that might happen but we're not going to hear about it or the details.

A player either plays for a coach, plays in spite of him or does neither because he resents him. I'm not necessarily talking about our coach. The same rules apply in any club, in any sport.

"They need to stop putting the national focus on Jack Watts i.e by subbing him out of the game. He's gonna end up a basket case."- Caroline Wilson.

How about you guys (the media) stop writing bloody articles about him, making unfair comparisons and belittling him in everything he does!

LLoyd (about Neeld, McLardy, and Neil Craig): "I just haven't heard any answers..."

Lloyd: "Egg on Mark Neeld's face because the players didn't do anything he asked"

They highlighted Neeld's pre-game address where he talked about Jobe Watson and then showed damning vision of how free Watson was all night.

Geeze Schwab has copped a lot of heat from the footy shows tonight.

Not a highly regarded man at all.

He copped it from Caro on FC, but that's no surprise.

Neeld spoke before the game of stopping Watson, yet no one was toe to toe with him putting on a tag why?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
