Intentionally lose or not play at their best just to spite the CEO/The Admin/Board/Coach?

I keep hearing this as a possibility to explain the poor performances and if true then this is even worse than tanking and is completely guttering for supporters who bleed for the club.

Say it aint so!

Wasn't that what the whole 186 thing was all about?

That's what I'm talking about too and as a lifelong supporter and member I find that abhorent and worse than any poor administration or coaching.

It's the players being completely selfish and putting themselves above the club, above us as supporters.

I could understand if they were rebelling to oppose poor working conditions or because they were being paid below minimum wage and working in a sweatshop with no dental plan but FFS need I go on.

No. This is a silly thread. Doesn't matter what is going on behind the scenes player wouldn't not go out and pretend just play [censored]! The players go out to try and play to the best they can and bust there ass out there because they want to WIN! yes it may look that they are not trying but being an AFL player is full time. they get paid for it its all part of the job. Do you think jimmy Toumpas who is new, first year player, 2nd game would go out there to play [censored] because oh what maybe could be going on behind the scenes? hell no! the kid wants to make a career out of this and you can tell he busts his ass for it. Trust me I have been there it is a totally different mindset when you run out into the ground! Your so focused on your game, the structures, beating your man etc.

You are spot on...of course the players are trying, they are not intentionally going out to lose games of football, make themselves look stupid and unemployable in the future.

It's the environment that is toxic and this makes it hard for them to perform at their best despite good intentions.

Excellent training facilities, whole new FD with any resource they want, Royal aside lots of youngish coaches (ie contemporary), once a week at Casey - excellent surface........

What's toxic about this? (If you are talking about Schwab again, or the board, I bet they are virtually invisible. Jees, they must be evil personified. FFS)

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
