Neeld must assign Watts to Hurley on Saturday and tell him to stick to him like [censored] to a blanket.

Quit letting him hide and let's see what he can do.

NO way !! Watts must be assigned to Casey Scorpions.. No more "let's see what he can do" WE have already seen what he can't do and that's cut it at this level.. He is far too soft and has a few mates..We need players that take on the game, make the play and have opposing coaches worrying about how to counter them NOT as you say being assigned to stick to an opposition player like "[censored] to a blanket" !!! That's part of our problem... we are trying to counter ,instead of being the ones that other coaches should be "countering"..!! What a negative un attacking attitude !! Had enough of this culture...That's what's wrong with this once great club !!!

"A more disappointing No.1 draft pick I do not know. He's been there five years, five years he's been there ... mate, do not come out, unless you're firing a shot, unless you're actually having a crack, or have had a crack at any stage of your five-year career and led the way.

... and this on the MFC administration:

"They need some non-Melbourne people in there, people that have got a

winning culture, they need to go and get the Brian Cooks of the world, the Neil

Balmes of the world they need good people off the field to set the agenda on

the field."

I think the headline should read:

'Ex Jenny Craig model takes ill advised pot shot at young footballer 3 days too late'.

Seriously, we should look at getting Neil Balme? I believe we had him before Scott. You know, when you were a player and had an ounce (but not much more) relevance.

And lay off Watts. He wasnt saying he couldn't be those players, he was saying nobody stood up yet. Jack had a really bad game but was building in form over the end of 2012 and the preseason. Lets not destroy his self belief for the fun of it. It's pointless.

Oh a thread bashing Jack Watts and the CEO started by Range Rover... That's new...

Seriously though, you're grasping for straws if you're quoting Scott Cummings. Come on RR, lift you're game mate, this is bordering on pathetic now.

Posted

By the way, instead of blaming a guy who just turned 22, how about the core age players like Frawley, Jamar, Sylvia, Garland...

Whether you like it or not Stuie, this is how many football people - in the media or otherwise - view Jack Watts and view our club.

Closing your eyes and wishing it would all go away won't change a thing.

And I'm not bashing. I'm quoting.

Just like Voss said we were the "next superpower" and Lethal said Clark would be no good for us...

Can't always guarantee what you read. Before this season he was being talked up by most, Carey said he'd be AA, but now after 1 poor game he gets smashed by a VERY part time journo and you get your Watts hating boner back.

Everyone bar Viney, M.Jones, and Grimes were weak as the proverbial on Sunday, so where's the articles about Frawley, Jamar, Sylvia, Garland, Byrnes... All guys who are in the core age bracket and are MEANT to be leaders at our club already.

No, we hammer a guy who is barely 22 and has been harassed by the media since his first game.

This is why MFC supporters are considered weak.

I commented upon this before... then it a lwent missing

I wont change my view..

I reckon Cummings is pretty close to the flag on this one. Im not having a go per se at Watts but possibly someone go and give him a good clip around the ears.

That Watts comments in the vogue he chooses simply for mine examplifies exactly whats wrong with Melbourne

Weve got a team when most are waiting for someone to lead., some sort of Messiah expectancy complex perhaps.

its not the result of one having a catalytic effect it needs everyone to step up and have a dip and taking the team by the scruff of its collar and get going.

I dont expect Sylvia to. I dont expect Sylvia to do anything, not anymore. but thats an aside

Jackie boy, ....Grasshoppper...look within for your answer.

dont wait......do !!

What a stupid comment by JW to say we lack leadership - talk about sticking that chin out...

totally agree. Jack dominated in all sports before he was drafted.

He must step up.

WHEN Jack Watts talks about a lack of leadership at Melbourne, he should point the finger at himself.

That is the view of 1999 Coleman medallist Scott Cummings.

One day - in the not to distant future - media outlets will run out of ex-footballers to drag opinions out of.

Just like to give some context to what Watts ACTUALLY SAID:

"A lot of it is to do with confidence (and) mindset. We've been losing for so long now and it's 'what can you do?' " Watts said.

"You look at the good teams like Geelong and Hawthorn and Fremantle and those kind of things. You've got guys like Selwood, Joel Corey, Stevie Johnson, Sam Mitchell and Jordan Lewis - they stand up and they don't accept that (losing) for their club.

"We don't have anyone like that today and that's the kind of thing that we need to work on."

"That sort of culture and that grit to be able to turn those things around when momentum goes against us, because at the moment we just crumble."

I know Demonland likes a good old fashioned witch hunt, but let's put things into context just this once.

Funnily enough, everyone is commenting on him saying that but it's not what he said.

Well, he's saying that all the Melbourne players, including himself, accept losing.

What a numbnut.

This guy's getting harder and harder to defend.....do you agree, stuie?

Read the actual quote.

He's saying our culture needs work as do our players, and "that's the kind of thing we need to work on".

Do you disagree with that?

Poor article by Cummins he didnt say we lack leadership at all.

Okay, so is he working on it? Culture? Or, is he sitting back and watching a player who has played ONE game, have 16 contested possessions, whilst he amassed two kicks?

He is indefensible - I have no idea what you see in him as a player.

Did you bother to read that bit in your blind Watts rage?

'We' includes him, doesn't it? What has he done/shown to arrest this culture?

Watts holds no rage for me - just a sad, soft, tiptoeing footballer.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
