Wonder what PAUL ROOS is up to these days???

Featured Replies

haha I was gonna question these blokes that thought it was true.. had a laugh out of it. Roos would never touch our club!

Hook Line Sinker

Probably beside the point because I doubt the vast majority of our supporters would embrace the idea even if he did, given how he has ragged on the club. Also think he is comfortable with his achievements in footy and would prefer to continue banging on about how great he and the '06 Swans were for the rest of his life. How Firking boring for his family and relos :)

Neil Craig is a top-line coach and he's backing Neeld right now so I'm happy to do the same. Will reassess at the end of the season unless something goes horribly wrong against GWS.

Inquiring about Roos' services would only serve to create further dis-unity at the club.

I'm ready to jump at any past coach who has done it before, getting desperate as I get older, who would want to resurrect their coaching career? Rocket, Gary Ayres , Ratten , just chucking names around!!!

Chocco Williams would definitely take the job. It is his last chance as senior coach.

If west coast continue to lose, I wonder if a call to worsfold might be worthwhile, he's out on contract this year.

I am sick of this club employing in-experienced coaches. When was the last time we had a big name coach? What Ron Barassi back in 1985.

It just kills me every time we announce a new coach I sit there listening to the press conference and go WTF, who is this guy. What does his resume say? Enough is enough.

It's time to spend the money and chase a premiership winning coach.

Roos is a coach who can get us playing co-ordinated semi competitive football. Neeld and Schwab have bled our list of first round draft talent. So no one can get us to be a winning team. If we still had Moloney, Jurrah, Petterd, Gys, Martin, Etc ie. players who can get involved in scoring plays maybe. But even without the talent a coach like Roos can inspire people to play cohesive steuctured football. Neeld uses negative reinforcement and puts pressure on the players which retards them.

I'm all for a new coach and CEO.

Gysberts? Really? He had two good games. I watched his first down at Skilled. He was hopeless after that. Lazy and slow to think. Meanwhile, the last time Petterd played a great game was his first and only great game (2010 against Collingwood). Don't even get me started on Moloney and as for Jurrah that wasn't Neeld's fault.

I'd love Roos to coach though, despite being a [censored]. I'm not particularly concerned as long as he can get us climbing the ladder.

To answer the Question making a bucket load of cash with no responsibility other then to comment on football, personally I hope he stays there.

I think Neil Craig will be seeing out 2013 as our head coach although i hope Mark Neeld turns it around..I don't think Roos or Choco Williams would come to us.I might get slated for this but i think we should have approached Rodney Eade to replace Dean Bailey. He had the Bulldogs playing some great stuff during his time at the Whitten Oval.People might say yeah but he couldn't go the whole way with the Swans or the Doggies. That may be true but he has a proven CV as a competent coach and with Eade in charge i don't think we would have seen the pathetic performances that we saw last year and that we are seeing this year under Mark Neeld.

Just BS.

We have had our current CEO for a week and already we are this far into discussions with Roos via the AFL?

RPFC - Very good chance that the AFL may have approached Roos - we are a basket case. I just can't see anyway on earth Roos coaching us - no way known!

Not sure why Roos would leave his cushy spot to become the subject of much scrutiny by Demonland.

It would be awesome if we were able to somehow get him onboard though.

It has been suggested he is interested and he is looking into possible assistant coaches.

All speculation at this point.

Read his other articles:

- Fevola was going to make a comeback for Sydney prior to Tippett - yeah right!

- Sydney is a better city than Melbourne because all Melbournians are snobs who talk about what school they went to although he happens to mention he grew up in affluent suburbs and likely attended one of those schools - umm also dont think so, I know theres a bit of that in those areas but venture North, West or the outer East of Melbourne and no one cares and in that area people often ask because they'll know your friends! Or lack thereof

Very dodgy, denied by all camps

It would be awesome if we (via the AFL) could secure his services. But it just embarrasses me that the AFL needed to step in in the first place. I would hate to think what the AFL actually thinks of us. What a shambles this club is nowadays. But hope must remain so fingers crossed this rumour is true.

The Afl can do what they like but we'd have to agree on it.

AFL Free Agency, Trade, Draft & Season News (Facebook page)

Rumors have run rife this afternoon with reports those at AFL house want premiership coach Paul Roos to be appointed head coach of Melbourne either before or at seasons end because of the lack of on and off field development.

Don McLardy has denied the reports as too has Andrew Dimetriou

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
