Conference finals kick off tomorrow. 7am for the LA/Chicago game and 10am for the Bruins/Pens. On Fox1 for those who have cable.

Here's a bit of a preview of the Pittsburgh/Boston series with the focus on Crosby and Chara ...

Chicago win game 1 and that was no huge surprise, but the Bruins winning the way they did, certainly was.

Watched a fair bit of the game and Boston did seem to put the Pens off their game ... here's a wrap-up

Bruins through in 4. Not sure what happened to Pittsburgh. All over very quickly ... extended highlights

Anyway, the Blackhawks have a chance to wrap things up tomorrow.

Chicago v. Boston final. After seeing Boston in round 1, I'm very surprised they've made it this far. Maybe the Leafs are a lot better than I thought, or is that just wishful thinking?

Since I've barely picked any series correctly this season, I won't make a prediction. I hope it's a long series, though.

I'll go Blackhawks in 6. After a dominant regular season they were pretty unimpressive in the playoffs until the conference finals, but I think they're the best team. If they win, the Conn Smythe will be very interesting. Crawford hasn't been as good this playoffs as Quick or Niemi (not that you give the award to a team that doesn't make the finals, just pointing it out), and Kane and Toews were mocked through the first two rounds for invisibility.

I'm now thinking the Bruins might prevail. We've had some short series and some long ones but I reckon this series will go to 7 games. It's a great match-up and I'm eagerly looking forward to the games. Game 1 is tomorrow (oz time) with the 2nd game on Sunday.

When Boston won the cup 2 years ago they had quite a time of it ...

Another OT classic today ties the series at 1-1. Great stuff.

I headed along to the USA v Canada exhibition game at Hisense last night. While there were only a handful of current NHL players and the quality of play was nothing like NHL standard, it was a good night out. Nice to see so many hockey jerseys in the one place in Melbourne!

Which NHL players were there?

Chicago's currently up 1-0 at the end of the 1st in game 5. What's the bet that this one goes to OT as well?

Blackhawks score twice in the last moments of game 6 to take the Stanley cup! The Bruins crowd must have been thinking about game 7 - what a terrible way to lose.

Chicago's been the best performed team this season so it's a richly deserved victory ... game 6 highlights

Yeah, was a beauty!

Unwritten rule is that only those who have won the Stanley cup can touch the Stanley cup.

This is an iconic moment in sport ...

I don't have pay tv so will need to buy the pass from the NHL centre if I want to watch it... But super keen nonetheless

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
