Pre-season update: Viney to Clark

Good to see these updates. Hopefully when they get through the list, including the rookies, they will start again from Hogan. Be nice to see these reports daily right up to the NAB Cup.

Bit of a worry with their prognosis for Trenners...initially the injury was to keep him out for 6 weeks - now it's 8 to 10 weeks. Hopefully it doesn't develop into a Jurrah type injury i.e. 2 to 4 weeks for 10 weeks in a row...

Ewwwwwwwwwwwww, there's a Brian Royal on my pre-season update.

I'm writing off for the first half of next year. Stress fractures in feet are usually a long term injury. His status seems to have gone backwards, so I'm a tad worried also.

Dont worry it will never become a "Jurrah" like injury,

The quality of these previews can be summed up by reading this one...

James has been a standout performer. He’s fit, strong and using the ball well. His leadership continues to improve every week. – Jade Rawlings

Maybe you should take it as Jade not giving a sh!t about Boxing Day.

I know I don't.

True.

Or you could take it as pedalling the usual cliched crap that doesn't mean anything, and not taking account of any surrounding circumstances.

While it's nice to get these good vibes from teh club, we all know that they put this sort of press out every year. They're hardly going to put out a write-up saying a player isn't pulling his weight and maybe they should have looked at trading him after all, are they?

Or you could simply take it as having been written pre-Xmas break, without getting into polemics re the info that the club puts out.

Or maybe you can take it as being written before Boxing Day!

Um, or being big enough to admit that there is a possibility you aren't right 100% of the time.

Not that you'd recognise the difference, of course, given you are never wrong.

Just trying to help you out.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
