I reckon you are right on the money Mono.

He tried to embarrass his boss - and left the Commission in a hole.It was very clear that he didn't have the judgment for a senior executive role. Why would anyone with half a brain launch an all-out attack on anyone or anything on the basis of the huffing and puffing of a weasil like McLean ? Gillon McLachlan's promotion is like Steve Bradbury's gold medal

like your Bradbury quip

interesting too that mclachlan knocked back the nrl offer after Vlad had returned from overseas and angry's inquisition was grinding its gears seemingly endlessly

you can almost hear the words vlad utters to gillom as he has a liitle chat over the nrl offer

Seems it is no longer a "cut and dried'' event. Are some elements of the media seeing this as a witch hunt too?

Mark Fine on SEN last week provided a very good analysis of the whole issue and lucidly described issues surrounding also Carlton Collingwood and Fremantle. The conclusion was if the demons go so should they, but actuall the best approach should be to just draw a line under it form now on, and stop targetting just Melb. His view was that the media in general has blinkers on which again was unfair to melb. As a sainst supported he was categorical that in the early 2000's, just prior to reiwoldt and other being drafted, they played their seconds team - as per collingwood and Freo. Caro-take note.

Somewhat ironic in that its plain ( to me ) that much of this inquisition is nothing more than an opportunity to use the MFC as an aid to his (AA) failed ambitions.

So an ambition's tool exposes an ambitious tool !!

maybe the navy blue one on the commission started to poop himself when he realised where this might head and had a little word to vlad to wind up the screws on angry

there could be a nice golden handshake for vlad's retirement/handover at the end of 2013 depending on a satisfactory outcome for all

Lets hope so.

I would like to see these sordid allegations ended in a fittingly filthy manner.

because of The Rhodes Scholar i have no doubt the AFL do not want to penalize Carlton a 2nd time, even though the EVIDENCE against Carlton for the last 12 weeks of 2007 is much stronger and clear cut.

It stinks of Poop alright.

The tenure of Vlad is not that greatalthough most think he is the great emporer.

LOL - so the AFL would be his emporium

sorry, couldn't help myself

Touche. Gillon McLachlan earns promotion to AFL deputy CEO (newly created position!)

Sounds about right. F&ck the boss over while he's away, you get his job or you're out the door.

MNM, AA's decision to go after MFC for tanking cost him his job and any future at AFL house. On the Couch should be wiping any tears away for him.

Its plausible but I cannot believe for a second he started the investigation without AD's knowledge...

Yes. AFL HQ is becoming very "roman" Fat Departments everywhere.

It is a concern. Fat Empires always fall.

I think he's an ex-parrot BECAUSE he started it without AD's knowledge.

He wanted to show he could fill dad's shoes while dad was away (like a big boy!), but dad wasn't ready to give up being the man of the house so easily.

I doubt its Vlads responsibility to end AA's job.

IMO it would be a boards position to act on, which in this case, includes the cardboard cartels insider.

Visy have been way to busy.

maybe, just maybe, we all should stop using visy product at our places of business...

The AFL don't want to admit that they're "List Management" has been going as long as 10+ years, under they're watch, & Vlads...

they want the perception to become a 'one off', 2009 oversight. in the record books as it were.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
