Education Course for the Dees

Have a read of the article on the MFC website. Nice to see the club stepping up the professionalism of the entire group, and being a pacesetter for the League.

Lot to like about the way the current administration is going about things.

Big tick from this OLD supporter!

this club just gets more professional by the day . kudos

Neeld is making us a lot like Collingwood but with a lot better looking supporter base.

Exactly my sentiments, Barry. I read this and thought...wow...we are building the foundations, quietly, of becoming a very professional unit both on and off the field: one that hopefully will attract players, members and sponsors.

This is indeed thinking outside the box. Well done.

I wonder if this is behind Moloney's leaving the club?

Hard to imagine Brett being Dux of the class year after year.

I highly doubt it.

are you suggesting that he wouldn't know what it actually meant?

How to beat a Victorian side other than Ess and Rich

Fabulous initiative, a "Demon" uni, plenty WILL want in, more positive vibe coming thru I feel. Stuff all the rest of em, were the DEMON'S.

As I said in last weeks training notes.

I wish I was a fly on the wall at some of those lessons.

I think we D'Landers would gain some better knowledge of what happens at the football department these days,

compared to yesteryears.

It would be quite amazing all the various bits of information the professional footballer has to absorb.

Diets, Set Plays, Videos, and other I.T. info Stats, GPS monitoring. Altitude Training, Opposition Tactics, Drugs, Alcohol,Treatment of Women the list goes on.

To think I survived on Pie Nights, Beer, Pack of Marlboro reds, Just knuckling the opposition. But I had fun.

If theyve done this the right way, there can be government funding and bonuses for completions available, could be around $3-5k per student :)

And, if successful with the current playing group, could become something much larger and open a similar program up to outside students. Using players as teachers, which could provide them 1. A future career in Education 2. Something to keep them amused during the week!

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
