You're not thinking of Euan Campbell, originally from Old Scotch whose only game was in Round 16, 1968 against Geelong at Kardinia Park, by any chance?

Most certainly am WJ. You have guessed my guess

Ross Fisher

Colin Sylvia

I dont recall the clue being "one good game".

I must have a short memory but I dont remember him at all

(groan)

Do you mean the Nathan Jones look alike who became Federal Member for Pink Batts or the young colt from Seymour who was given the number 31 in 1977 but had to wait until the following year to make his debut?

I'm not really sure WJ. I was just a baby at the time.

I googled and liked the name. but, your a walking demon encyclopedia

It would be easlier giving names and addresses of those that died on the titanic, than what we have got so far. :)

Dan Cunningham (1932)

(never heard of him either)

Joe Hogan

Who else but the only Melbourne player in history with the surname of Hogan who even had the same initials as our own future star Jesse Hogan?

Here are the clues in their entirety:-

Who am I ... 1st Clue:

I played only one game for the Melbourne Football Club.

I am...?

Who am I ... 2nd Clue:

The ground at which I played my one and only game no longer exists.

I am...?

Who am I ... 3rd Clue:

I wore the number 13 and came to the Melbourne Football Club from Ballarat Imperial.

I am...?

Who am I ... 4th Clue:

My namesake (surname) was recently recruited by the Demons but won't play for them next season.

I am...?

At least you got the right year. Joe Hogan played his one and only game in 1932 but both he and Cunningham missed the Titanic by a couple of decades.

Do I score .5 of a pt for the correct year?

I was all over it with the 3rd clue. The 3rd clue should have been the 2nd clue and the 4th clue should have been the 1st clue. Then my 1st guess would have had a chance of getting somewhat close to being correct. In fact I think I could have nailed it IF your clues were swapped around.

As it was, I was throwing darts at names and hoping for the best :) Whats the next one?

1st clue : I wore long sleeves? lol

You're a tough quiz master. But doing well hosting. Having fun doing it I hope?

If anyone else wants to chair the quiz after WJ is done ,PM me, or put your name forward in this thread and I'll add you to the roster.

For a triple point answer and a holiday in the Greek islands my answer is = Olympic Park

After Hogan played his 1 only game there, the joint was doomed. Well afterall it did go to the dogs.

WJ might want to confirm that is correct.

Olympic Park is correct.

We played 3 games there early in the 1932 season due to the MCG being unavailable as it was being top dressed.

The ground at Olympic Park was known as the Motordome so my guess is that it was used for some sort of racing cars.

I might have a crack at one more quiz and then call it quits for 2012.

Known as Melbourne Speedway.

Unless my memory is playing tricks with me. Wasnt the trots (harness racing) and the dishlickers racing also held there?.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
