Who I am? A guessing quiz.

DeeVoted

Recommended Posts

I have put together a short series of 'Who am I?" I may or may not do more, we'll see how its received.

These are players that played for the Dees, anywhere from the 1900's to current players.
You get 1 guess each per clue,so dont bother with multiple guessing, or multiple posts, I will ignore those.
So make the most of your 1st guess.

1st to guess, with or without needing all the clues, and names the player correctly, gets bragging rights.
(No I dont own a chateau at Bulla ,so there wont be any free weekend tickets to the snow in June 2013.)

A new "Who am I" each week, (open for change)
A new clue will be posted each day. (IF required)
There will be 4 Clues on each player .
Good luck.

If anyone notices a poster that does a multiple post or guesses for 1 clue, could they point out the rules
as it WILL be overlooked, regardless if its the correct answer. If that happens will be misleading to other
posters, thinking this post was also incorrect. *reason just gives more posters a chance to have a guess.

Note: I am NOT on here, 24/7 but I will do my best to ID the winner, before too many pointless guesses are posted.
Disclaimer : anyone that cheats gets beaten over the head with a feather. ONE guess per clue.

If anyone thinks they can stump the masses, and want to chair the quiz for the week, all you need to do
is have a min of 5 players with 4 clues on each player.
Send me a PM, I will add you to the roster, then give you a short brief.

Scoring System:

Quiz Master : No points scored if the quiz is guessed correctly with the opening guess.
1 point for 1st clue : 2 pts (if 2nd clue required) : 4 pts (3rd clue required) : 8 pts (4th clue required)
15 points for stumping the masses.

The Masses : 2 Point bonus if you are the 1st to post and get it correct.
4 pts scored on the 1st clue : 3 pts on the 2nd clue : 2 pts on the 3rd clue : 1 pt on last clue.

CLUBHOUSE LEADERS :

24 points: Stingrays -- 6 correct guesses (+ 4 bonus points)
23 points: Whispering_Jack -- 4 correct guesses (+6 for 3 questions) (+ 2 bonus points)
19 points: gsmith12 -- 4 correct guesses (+ 4 bonus points)

I feel I will not have much of a chance at many of these questions, at best I have memory of 1998- onwards haha

No it was not a fluke. I am more familiar with MFC and it's players than most, my age helps as I have been a supporter since the early fifties.

Famer and McKenzie were the only two possibilities IMO and I went for the less obvious.

Nice thread.

Let me know if you need some help :)

Well "young grasshopper" I am not buying into your feeble attempt to sway my agenda ;)

A history lesson wont hurt to broaden your knowlegde of ex or existing players.

I will mix it up a bit, so you wont feel left out.

A wild guess sometimes could be the correct one. its just a bit of fun

Well "Barry Jones" ... if you keep nailing the correct answer that quickly. I may have to rethink my clues.

I dont want to be too vague, or make them too easy either.

I am aware there are lof ot posters here, that have a very good memory of our players. But didnt expect that one to go that quick.

Let me know if you need some help :)

I only planned to do a few prior to the Nat. draft. to fill in some time, before everyone will be discussing who we missed, who we snagged etc

These threads die off after awhile, I wasnt intending to make a career out of it. Just a 'filler' for a few weeks, for a bit of fun.

If its a popular thread, I may do some more, when training takes a break, and before they get back into the full swing after xmas.

Thanks for the offer to help. but you might be found guilty of 'insider trading' if I use outside info for clues etc. :)

I am leaving myself wide open to be hung from the nearest goalpost for misleading clues and facts.

But the intention is for a bit of fun.so lets not get too serious.

Suggestions and feedback are more than welcome. ie continue with more once a week?, depending on my available free time.

Anyway a great pickup on your behalf. Perhaps I need to move you into the 1890 to 1930 category so others get a look in.

Bennett was recruited in the 80's, not 90's

oops you got me, Late 80's is correct 1987 to be exact. I better double check my facts. Somewhere I read 1990. Didnt matter 1st post got it.

But none-the-less point taken and noted

I 'll do another one soonish... call that one a test run.

I'll toughen up the clues a bit awhile I'm double checking the clues are correct

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
