Caddy at Pick 13 is the rumour going around...

done

Caddy at Pick 13 is the rumour going around...

So does that mean the Dawes and Wellingham deal at pick 4 is still on the cards?

screw caddy! pick 4 for second pick in the mini draft is all i want! Get Hogan please Dees!!

Talk of pick 3 for 2nd pick in mini draft... Who would trump us if we offered pick 4? Ourselves?

The AGE reporting that Port nomited both Daniher AND VIney with its pick 7 in order to force Ess and Melb to use their picks 10 and 26 to secure their F/S players.

I thought multiple bidding was outlawed to stop exactly this kind of thing?

ANYONE CONFIRM WHAT THE SITUATION IS?? (oops sorry bout the caps)

Bids are still done one at a time though. Port would have bid #7 for Daniher, followed immediately by Essendon's response to take him as F/S. Port are then able to re-bid #7 on Viney.

Great result. Very happy.

So Port effectively stymied each clubs chance of getting a F/S for the 3rd round. Doesn't seem right to me.

I suspect clubs will remember that.

I still think other football clubs wouldn't have let Viney slip for a third round pick

seems like a long time since we as a club have had something so fantastic happen. As I said a few days ago, this really could be a turning point for us - particularly if some other rumoured trades come up. We could be looking at 6 or 7 changes to our starting line up. Well done MFC for whatever you did to get this right. This, along with snaring Clark last year, are out of character for the 'loser' club - and I like it very much. I had been counting down the days until today. That is how sad my life is.

rules changed this year to allow multiple bidding

Sheer farce. I don't understand it.

It aint over until the deal dust settles ...

Yeah right.

So GWS get 1, 2 & 4

Melbourne get 3

So you reckon GWS will give up the supposed 3rd best player, so that their good mates at Melbourne can grab him.

YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS!

Viney with 26, awesome, Rivers may stay, awesome! This is one of the best days being a demons supporter recently, a little sad, but great nonetheless!!!!!!!!!!

If any deal was done Melbourne could easily deny it, after all what can GC do? Its outside the laws of the game if they did a deal, so there's no way they could claim it if Melbourne denied it. No-one would have been dumb enough to sign anything, so, it never happened, give GC nothing. Too risky for both clubs, either it didn't happen, or one or both clubs will claim it didn't happen, or nothing will come of it.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
