Brownlow Medal Night

Melbourne Hawks?

Wouldn't it be more like the "Hawbourne Dawks"

Mate I believe that ST was going home to play for Adelaide from the day he was drafted.

My clear memory of that time was similar to TS.

The day TS took a two year deal I knew was not going to stay, family said sit it out for two years and see what develops.

My memeory of ST was that his family wanted him home in Adelaide.

It would not have mattered who drafted him he was going back home sooner or later.

I have never thought of him as a player we lost because I never believed he wanted to be anywhere else but home in Adelaide.

The dees were just a stop alone that journey.

good players rarely leave good clubs.

The MFC didn't try hard enough, or didn't know how.

It was during the Gardner reign.

But his team got smashed every week pretty much, plus Bennell would take a few votes. I reckon GC were better last year than this year so I would expect him to get about the same amount of votes.

Kennedy is still my top tip, tons of possies in a top 4 team, and Goodes had an average year so I think JK will get most of the attention. Under the radar a bit because he's not from a Vic club.

Bennell could not get a kick in a football factory

Oh you mean that Bennell!

Our midfield has been rubbish ever since he left.

Apologies to Jonesy.

Awwwwww........ what about Beamer last year? 19 Chas votes? What could have been if he slimmed down and bought in as Neeld demanded, eh?.......

(awaiting a barrage of abusive posts....)

Sam Mitchell over Thompson and Cotchin for mine.

Kennedy will be on 12 after 4 or 5 games and not poll again till Round 17. Him and Cotchin are the two lay's of the night in my opinion. Beams to beat Swan in Collingwood votes is a decent bet, and I think it'll be a trifecta in some order of Watson, Thompson & Ablett.

You may be right in that idea

But I don't believe it is the case with ST

Just slapped a fifty on Micthell for the Medal and 10 for the double.

Only because the world is conspiring against me and I hate him so much.

so you have backed Hawthorn for saturday?

I can't stand the idea that only players from the winning side can win best-on-ground perfrmances. It is an evolution of modern Brownlow voting that would have made players from the past seethe.

Bobby Skilton

Gary Dempsey

Kevin Murray

These blokes were guns and champions and would thrive in any era. They went in, got it, played inside and outside abd were rarely beaten. They are also the reason why the word "fairest" should remain the first word in the trophy, before "best". Modern Brownlow voting is too much about the bestplayer in the winning side, and not about the fairest and best footballer.

Ablett should rock it in, but I am not sure if the umpires will give him enough votes considering how often GC lost.

Sam Mitchell will probably win it

Josh Kennedy all the way for me.

In the double (10 bucks) I have but I am "rooting" for the Bloods.

poor form Dude. This aggression will not stand.

No Thompson or Dangerfield? Easily the best 2 players in the 2nd placed team. Or are you figuring they'll steal votes of each other too much?

yep

Scott Thompson played four years for Melbourne. Hardly a bloke that was going home the day he got here....

As for the line 'his family wanted him home'... I just don't know what to say to that,

I've had a bad cold for a couple of days and was out of it for most of the day today. Then I tuned into Foxtel's Red Carpet programme and I was doing well until I saw Brynne Edelsten.

Dead set. I'm having a relapse!

She really needs to spend more on material for her dresses.

She truly puts the ass in Brassy.

The Dodgy Doc is a tripper.

Why couldn't he just find a nice Jewish girl instead ?

His mother would be turning in her tomb.

imagine working on her TV Show!! FFS that would be torture of the highest order.

It is so bad.

She'll make Bingle look like Geoffrey Robertson.

A whole TV show dedicated to an orange cleavage.

FFS-I really hope they dont show it during meal times.

yep

Yeah you're probably spot on there, Thompson has had a slightly better year I reckon, but the umps don't like him much, read somewhere he has the highest free kick differential or something along those lines... Still, great year for a 2nd placed team, has a chance

My expectation is that her show won't last three weeks but then again, Big Brother caters for imbeciles and that's still going.

My concern is how on earth did Brynne crack an invite? The only way it could be possible is that the Seven Network is shamelessly cross promoting her forthcoming programme.

Oops, I'm having another relapse. She was on again!

Then you have done the right thing

She should be a doggies fan, got a face to match

On second thoughts she's got a brain more like a Filth supporter

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
