West Coast - likely Wellingham

Hawthorn - made the GF, don't need much

North - likely Caddy

Bulldogs - after Dawes

The rest are more at a draft stage I would have thought

Wellingham - Trade

Caddy - Trade

Dawes - Trade

Not FA as you're bleating we're not having a crack at

Mate you were asking about those teams so I gave you an answer.

We are in desperate need of quality players and SO FAR I'm pretty disappointed about what's known of our efforts.

It only adds to the disappointment when not much happens.

Speak for yourself.

I was talking in reference to FA which is what you were bleating about

You even stated you don't want trades as you want to keep draft picks

Don't change the goal posts

You said EVERYONE was having a crack

Mate - we've been linked with nearly every single out of contract FA / Player at some stage in the last couple of months

Don't act as though we're doing nothing

An old bull and a young bull stand on a hillside, overlooking a pasture. The young bull says to the old bull, “Hey, let’s run down and blank one of those heifers.” The old bull replies, “let’s walk down and blank ‘em all."

Covers the situation nicely.

Incorrect. If you were paying attention, I said I don't like trading for contracted players. So who's moving the goal posts?!

I misread

You're still ignoring the facts that it's day 2

Many other clubs have been silent

We've been far from silent

Weve been linked to NUMEROUS players

Wellingham, Dawes, Pearce, Monfries, Byrnes, Rodan, Lynch, Caddy and so on

What more do you want us to publically do simply to appease impatient supporters?

Sign a few FA's day 1 just for the sake of it

Give me the definitive list of who you want us to trade for / get under FA

Speak for yourself.

+ 1

not much experience in life I'm thinking,

Dear christ nothing has happened by day 2 we must be doing nothing FFS

Sure other clubs have been silent, but we're in desperate need of quality players, especially if it means NOT giving up our draft picks.

Not including the draft, I would have liked to have got via trade/FA:

-Tippett

-Caddy

-K Stevens

-Byrnes

-Wellingham

Realistically, I think we'll get Dawes, Byrnes, and maybe one surprise. Depending on who the surprise is I'll be either satisfied without being happy or underwhelmed.

We can't keep relying on 18 year olds from the draft, we NEED players who have played 100 games +

WE haven;t been silent though!

We've been vocal!

Byrnes toured our facilities today

Tippett realistically will go to QLD

Re Caddy Dawes Wellingham here you go

Are happy now?

Ok let me explain. I was obviously just talking about FA with the bit you highlighted. To me, a team with tons of salary cap space and high draft picks, who needs experience, should be pretty active in the FA period.

The players I listed as trade for players I would be happy to trade picks for (at the right price).

I'm sorry, you've gone from bemoaning the fact we've been "quiet" on day the 1st 2 days of FA to....actually I don't even know what you're bitching about anymore

Maybe we are waiting for some real cattle

Stuie is not going to make it to the end of the month!!

I might, but my hair may not...

If we had a semi good side we could go after one gun player ie: Tippett or Goddard but we have a lot more holes to fill so I'm happy to not pay overs for tippet and Goddard. I can't believe Goddard is on 800k a year and Kurt will probably get more then that. I'd rather pay overs for mid range players like wellingham, Dawes and maybe caddy. I wanted cloke because he is in the top 5 in his position I don't think bj and tippet are.

Agree with this which is why I am surprised that we would let a player like Rivers leave....

'Letting' him leave?

"(If) he (Tippett) wants to go to Melbourne, guess what, Carlton will out up their hand for him," Malthouse said on Adelaide radio station 5AA.

"Of course I'm going to get involved.

"I always thought Tippett was going to go back to the Gold Coast or Queensland because that's where he comes from.

"Adelaide, to me, are a club on the rise ... now all of a sudden you hear Sydney or Melbourne and I just don't get that."

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
