Look, you probably won't agree with me, but it's fair to say that I consider Watts a disastrous pick one and would have a number of players ahead of him. Aint hindsight great ? They include: Naitanui, Hill, Hartlett, Hurley, Yarran, Rich, Ziebell, Davis, Sidebottom, Shuey, Trengove, Zaharakis, Ballantyne, Redden, Beams, Hannebery, Shiels, Motlop, Robinson, Sloan and you can add Tom Rockliff who was overlooked in the ND and taken in the PSD.

There's a lazy 20 odd. I'm surprised you didn't include Hannebery, Rockliff, Rich, Sloan, Shiels, Motlop and Redden.

Apologies, missed Rockliff, Rich and Sloan but I think Watts has been a better pick up than the others. They have looked good for periods but not hugely convincing yet. As well as that, most of those players are at strong clubs, with plenty of senior experience around them so who knows what they would be like at the MFC. Obviously we often retard the development of many a youngster.

I assumed from this thread that there was a way of getting around the fact that Watts is an MFC player and not the Fijian or anyone of the many good players from that draft.

Can we move on?

Either tell me that we need to trade him, give him riods (giving him roid rage - two birds, one stone there people!), or continue to develop him.

I mean, how do you think Watts should be playing? Because if you are going to say that he should be splitting packs in half and kicking bags every week from CHF, its time that you accepted that he isn't that kind of player and probably won't be.

Watts has some good things to build on; exceptional disposal bordering on elite, great composure and agility, pace and strong hands one on one not to mention good awareness.

IMO the easiest place to play is in the forward pocket. All you have to do is position yourself in front of the pack and wait for the ball or lead up and take a mark... pretty simple.

I have tried it, I wouldn't assume to know how difficult a position is if I hadn't played the game.

That is a naive description of HBF. How about being accountable for your man and knowing when to zone off?

For the other 98 minutes it's a taxing, spirit sapping struggle to lead, present, double back, get crunched, get up, tackle and harrass over and over again with about the only reward a punch in the back of the head or a nasty back pocket's stops being raked against your heels.

Pretty simple process though isn't it? There is a lot more responsibility and requirement playing off half back. After all your talk about Watts needing a real mean streak it doesn't sound like you enjoy the physical side of footy much.

No position is considered easy however -

HBF - generally regarded as the easiest position on the ground to play - not naive - coaches have often quoted this - out of form players get confidence back playing HBF- can follow a man and see the ball coming at them.
