David Mackay

Have an inkling Neeld wants to use the comp from HWFUA for a like-for-like replacement; a player with at least 3 years in the system

Quite a fair bit of money I would've thought.

Yeah, but to tempt them you have to show them the money.

And we have so much room in our cap.

I have literally never heard of this guy. I haven't watched a whole lot of neutral games the last few years as footy has been too depressing, but I didn't realise I had missed quite that much.

Ambitious, I like it! But unfortunately seems as though it didn't work out. Smart thinking, pacy wingman, good long kick and smart user of the ball. Him and Blease down the wings would've been juicy!

Please tell me someone's kidding?

Or am I wrong - maybe I just haven't taken too much notice of this bloke...

Never heard of him!

I would have liked him in the team.

It just goes to show the new melbourne, on the front foot trying to get players to improve our team.

Rather than the last 5 years where it was the draft or bust.

The only David Mackay I know is the one who played with Carlton many years ago.

Neil Craig must know a bit about him and think he's OK if MFC is prepared to throw that sort of money at him.

There are other more well known onballers that I'd rather see us chasing.

Haha, we dont exactly get news first up here in brissy. Just excuse me......

This must be why people on here think we are better than we are: they don't take an interest in the competition in general and there is no point of reference...

Fill me in then....how good is he?

That was Andrew Mackay at Carlton, I think.

No KDA there was a David Mckay not bad either I think he played in one of their premiership wins in the late sixties / early seventies.

You may be too young

Mackay is a decent player not sure if he is worth that kind of coin.

But hey I'm sure the FD know morer than me

Thats the part i was trying to get at. Might be handy....but that handy?

He'd step into our midfield pretty easily...but who wouldn't?

I wouldn't say he is worth that contract however, especially considering he was injury plagued last year.

Should fit right in at the MFC rpfc

Just joking wants too much IMO

Well, if he is rejecting it, he hardly 'wants' it...

And he is a bit of a line-breaker but doesn't get it much.

Although why would he need to with Danger Mouse about...

Could have sworn that was Jace Bode.

500K per season is big time overs for Mckay.

Unfortunately seems we have to pay big time overs to land anyone.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
