Bombers Blow It : )

Featured Replies

The next best thing after a Demons win is an Essendon loss and this mob have capitulated in fine style after being touted as a flag fancy earlier in the season.

Anyone who has mates who bang on and on about Hiiiiiiiirdy and Bombaaaaa will know what I'm talking about.

Go to Bomberblitz and follow the meltdown live. It's a guilty pleasure.

I work with a Bomber fan and have spent years and years listening to her gushing about "St James Hird" , Lloydy and K.S. Cannot wait to see her tomorrow morning. What would have made my weekend more complete(apart from a Demon win) would have seen Collingwood getting done.

Another casual reminder that Essendon missing the finals effectively bumps our mid 1st round compo pick forward by 1 slot

(as another team missing the 8 would pick before this compo pick and they'd choose from players we'd have our eyes on, as opposed to picking Daniher).

Enjoying this news in a very wet Bangkok!!

Will go out tonight and celebrate.

Hate them with vengence..

Essendon are also very interested in Caddy. I believe the two clubs in the race are us and them.

Funny, but I saw a great Kangas win and a coach turning early setbacks in the match into positives - glass half-full situation I guess!

Yes, but the bombers will only be able to offer a 2nd round pick or a player.

And I doubt Gold Coast want any of their players.

Tayte Pears or Cale Hooker simply aren't enough for a kid like Caddy.

Glad to know we started it - one of the few positives for the year. :)

The ONLY positive of the year I think you mean.

In my eyes this is the only game we've won.

No they will want a top liner like Crameri or a first round pick and again Essendon won't come to the party. I think he is open to us if we want him.

This thread has the potential to be the only thread that doesn't turn into a mark neeld thread or did I just turn it into one? Ah crap

Couple of years ago they were calling Tayte Pears a gun; Hurley up one end Pears up the other, the best CHB/CHF combo going.

Yeah, well they CAN'T come to the party on first round picks, unless they involve a 3rd team.

Bombers also won't part with a player like Crameri, Heppell, etc.

I imagine they'll waster everyone's time offering the tall defenders, Colyer, Jetta, Winderlich, etc.

I think maybe they'd let Melksham go too.

But in the end, they won't get the deal done, and a year on, Caddy probably has had ample time to consider that insisting on Essendon alone is a poor decision.

A lot of people hate Collingwood more than Essendon but I can't see why. Most of the 'feral' Collingwood supporters don't have much else going on in their lives and when they won the flag in 1990, I felt happy for some of the punters I saw who finally got a little joy in their lives. Essendon supporters are another matter. Smug and not particularly bright (nothing to do with class), it makes me smile when they go down.

Windy Hill was always more feral than Vic Park

Never got to Windy Hill. I do remember going to Vic Park and it has left a scar on my soul that keeps me awake at night. The highlight was the crooked eyed man with the missing teeth and his blue lunchbox who just dropped the f bomb all game (That is literally true, he just said that occasionally pausing to flip Peter Matera off as he sprinted by on the wing). I remember when the folks wanted to leave (they are Magpies) and Mum accidentally kicked his lunchbox. He told her to go forth and multiply. Mum, a feisty woman by her nature, was ready to unload on him until she saw the face of a wise old punter who just simply said with a knowing smile on his face, 'Keep walking love, keep walking.' She knew what he meant.

Hahahaha!! I can see it mate. But i kid you not more fights and almost fights happened at windy hill. In 1990 when we won out there i feared for my life leaving. Still sang the song though!!

Windy Hill was certainly the most dangerous ground I went to in the old days.

Even at the old Western Oval I parked a relatively new car in the back streets and it was still there after the game!

But for me, Hawthorn suppporters are the worst wherever they are - their arrogance defies belief - and worse still, they appear to have more Range Rovers than Melbourne supporters could ever afford, and yet we are usually credited with that ownership statistic (and going to the snow in winter)!

Yes arrogant Hawthorn supporters. But can you blame them, since 71 they have been up!!

Coincides with our [censored] period....

Best thing about Essendons decline this season is that yet again the media got overly excited about them (remember the predictions of a pies bombers grand final). Now they are going to struggle to make the 8, and if they do I see them travelling to Perth for an almighty flogging.

I always found it more snooty than feral. The filth forever win Feral with Vic Park. Windy Hill wasnt often a happy hunting ground for us .

100% - if this year has taught me anything it's that I hate Essendon way more than I hate the Pies - I think I even hate the Blues more than the Pies.

I think he will be at Melbourne if we want him, the Doggies the only other with something to offer. Will Essendon want to go to arbitration again lol.

Couldnt agree more...I look at it all the time when they lose....LOL. Makes my day!

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
