Now that he is over his injuries and Carlscum are deferring we should welcome him back with open arms

Presuming this is about Brock, I've always maintained that whilst we did very well in that trade I would take him back in a heartbeat... always thought he gave his absolute all to our club during him time here, and I also believe he still has plenty of good footy left in him. However, chances of him wanting to return to the MFC after walking out would probably be next to nil I'm guessing.

Before I opened this I thought to myself 'I bet this will be about Mclean'

Sure enough it was, which resulted in yet another face palm.

No thanks on brock, move on

I am on the fence here.

But, who has played the better footy over the last month? Brock McLean, James Magner or Tom Couch?

Yeah thats not the point in my eyes, the guy walked out. If Tom Scully started playing good footy in his last year of his contract would you want him back?

Which one of them gets to play along side of Judd, Gibbs, Simpson, and Robinson (I hate this guy but yes he is good)?

The age old quibble about which ordinary player is better than which other ordinary player. As Ben Hur said in another thread: chicken pox or measles?

I'll take none thanks.

The devil (demon) you know.......

Carlton have put off talks until the end of the season. If Neeld wants experienced mature bodies i'd prefer to get Brock back than give a chance to someone who cant get a game in a good AFL list.

Spin it which ever way you want, Mclean is a good AFL player. Not the best, but better than many on our list (based on current age/form)

If we trade away picks 3 4 13 for Brock, Caddy and Boak, and then we draft Viney I will have a seizure.

Quick fix will get us half-way up the ladder and thats it. We need to learn to draft and develop our own stars. I am strongly against going for any existing B grade mids.

Sadly I think the club wouldn't agree with me :(

Let's get Bruce, Ooze and Cheney back as well!

As the Blues Bros said... we're getting the band back together.

We can pass on our draft picks and delist Grimes, Trenners and Frawley to make space on the list.

Now Calm down olisik

That is never going to happen.

We need a combination of young and mature recruits.

The error of young and nothing else is haunting us now and for the next few years.

With luck we will get " a combination of young and mature recruits".

PS I could handle half way up the ladder at present

I would be happy to get Cloke and one of Boak/Caddy/McClean. Maybe a Toumpas, Garlett and Viney.

That would be sweet. All these articles about how we plan on being active though is scary as I would be sad to see a Gysberts or Blease get traded or lose too many draft picks on B grade players.

I don't want to end up a team of brutes with no skill. That would be depressing to watch.

I basically agree with you however you have to give something of worth to get what you want unless the player you are after is a free agent.

Unfortunately that is the way it works.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
