Jeremy Cameron

So you have said, whats your point or saying this time and time again?

Probably responding to other posters.

Maybe like now ?

If the club has that attitude we'll never get another star again.

You cannot get him till the end 2013 at the earliest.

We need to focus on recruits to play at the start of 2013.

Cameron is a pipe dream at this point.

No, that's not right. The pursuit of a player takes up time and resources, it shouldn't be wasted on a player who we have zero chance of moving. By all means if Travis Cloke (or Chris Judd for example) is putting out the feelers, by all means the club should give it a shot, but this guy's not going to go anywhere.

In the mean time, we continue to look for our star in the draft, just like every other club does, and pour all our resources in to that.

Well covered Nasher.

Spot on the money

I wouldn't offer anything because we're not a hope in hades' of getting him. I'm not advocating recruiting him, just my love. I leave dolts like you to come up with the silly trade offers.

Lucas Cook was an AA CHF in the u18's team. Cook was a first round draft pick (no. 12). Jeremy Cameron is a year younger than Cook. Cook doesn't belong in the same stratosphere as Cameron. Cameron will be a star and Cook may be a decent player.

So we are clear, I am on the same side of this debate.

But I need to understand if you have seen Cook live yet or not. What did you see (or not)?

If you haven't seen him live, this is a stupid post.

Yes, I've seen him live.

Looks OK, good decisions, good kick, can take a mark, but a little slow and no X factor. Not a lot to excite, but may be serviceable.

BTW, I'm not in the habit of making stupid posts.

Love it how everyone brings 'X Factor' into play.

it seems to get thrown around a lot on demonland, my guess is that it gets thrown around a lot because its not a measurable attribute so no-one can be proved wrong by saying someone has/has not any 'X - Factor'

I'm calling it: Jordie McKenzie has no X-Factor.

What you see is what you get. And I hope that never changes.

Some people here would say the complete opposite, none being right however as X-factor is a non measurable attribute that people have different interpretations of

Until someone rings into AW saying we are into his agent's ear, I don't want to talk about it.

He's good, bloody good, but what do want to do about it?

Sit here and masticate over him?

That's all I have to say, take it or leave it.

I know we need mids, but we will also need a J Darling player type coming through to (Better to start early why we have higher draft picks)

What type of Key forwards are expected to go high in the draft this year? Anything special or is it really that mid-heavy?

I think if Liam and Mitch were fit, firing and in sync we'd not be having this discussion.

Patience on Lucas Cook will be rewarded.

Why get a star when one is not needed?

One is not needed ? .... Everything's "swell", is it ?

Only what Ive heard olisk.

17 year old at this years draft:

Jesse Hogan. They are comparing him to Carey (big call) 194 cm & 95kg.

From what I've heard:

Mason Shaw - Seems a little like a poor man's Clark

Kristian Jaksch - apparently has been playing down back, much like a recent much maligned #1 pick.........

and a fellow called Joe Daniher

All lead-up marking types, not the Darling bash'n'crash that everyone on here seems to think that we need.

With Clarke , Howe and another bash and crash prospect our forward line would truly be a frightening place to be and not only for the opposition.

I saw Garland bash and crash a pack in great style against GWS, looked like he was bowling some pins over. He isn't that big though that pack did crash when he hit it

I wouldn't go for Cameron as I've said. I'd go Patton. And if we just sit back and say it's all too hard, we'll never get anywhere.

I agree we have to be fastidious about the players we target, but once we set our sights on someone, we should go at them hammer and tong. This would include getting in the ear of Patton's manager.

Please suggest who you think would be a good fit to give GWS in return? I am still waiting for someone to suggest something that would be feasible to give GWS in return.

Love it how all these posters are saying 'we should get in Patton and Cameron's managers ear' however none can answer this.

Don't you get it ? We've got Buckleys in getting either !

Fact is Cameron has the attributes of an elite long term star, something this club craves and has also intimated in the recent times its trying to obtain.

Yet, you don't think we need one ?? I asked you why ? And don't you think we will more than likely fall short without a star ?

Premiership teams frequently year in, year out have star players.

What do you mean 'Dont you get it?'

I am the one saying its not feasible yet you continue to spruik them.

This thread is about Cameron. All I've stated is how good he is. Nothing more.

I know we can't possibly get him.

I questioned your remark that we "don't need a star" at Melbourne.....

I say we do and the club will persist in trying to obtain one.

teams have won premierships before without stars. That's all it simply meant.

I'm really struggling to think of one

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
