When is the board going to act?

Featured Replies

Delicate situation (if true) as we will want to ensure we get max value in trade later in the year...so we need to let them show their wares.

Why would the club want to come out and tell the supporters that this is the issue? It would only cause more hate on the players and if anything have more of a negative impact. It will even give the younger players a glimpse of what to expect from MFC supports when they get older and if they stay loyal.

Nothing to be gained

Did you just quote yourself?

"Mclardy acknowledged it was not easy for MFC Supporters at the moment"

That tells me he knows more than is letting on at present.

wowee-wee-wow!

Given the apparent position of some on this thread, why would McLardy want to expose himself to such an audience? Rhetorical question of course.

It will certainly be essential viewing anyway . The most interesting part will be the line of questioning . Healy's brother Greg is involved at the club . Roos might go hard but he might be out of his depth and as for Sheahan , who knows ?

Footy classified would be a much tougher gig but at least Don is on the front foot . We should all be happy that at least we're going to get some of our issues addressed . Big test for Don .

Not sure on that one. Maybe the clubs hands are tied.

I would prefer to see them all at Casey after being told certain things this morning...4-5 players who are still being paid by us, are effectively holding the entire club to ransom.

F$&@k that i say.

Let me guess , the gang of four now the gang of five. Green, Davey, Moloney, Sylvia and Jamar.

There is a false notion begun by Walls today that McLardy, Schwab have been invisible. This is BS and misses the point.

Schwab delivered WebJet, Opal - that's almost enough in terms of job security for a CEO

Blame the players - Back the Coach - Build the List - Stay the F out of it

Mark Neeld is the figurehead now for the MFC and should be from here out. How many successful clubs are "led" by their president and board. Strong man coach all the way - and we have one.

No he didn't, they delivered themselves and got some good exposure for saving the club after a failed sponsorship that was always dubious.

Geelong, Collingwood and Hawthorn have all been led by strong, up front presidents.

Playin for a football club with no chance of getting a premiership would be liek going to university with no hope of getting a job after it. You wouldn't care what your uni results are or even try to get good marks.

Well, if you don't have any pride in yourself that is just maybe what you might do. And it may appear that that is what at least some of our players think too. We can do without those.

I am just passing on what i was told. If you wish to not take it on face value then go ahead. But i think the onfield stats of certain players in 2012 and certain management rumblings made already this year give it some creadence.

It is 2nd hand information i am not hiding from that one bit.

Again WYL, no dis-respect. But, your telling ppl who PM'd to you that their thoughts were relayed to the club and the club was being informed. yet your info was 2nd hand only. Poor form.

Giving supporters a ray of hope with no direct connection, in such circumstances is wrong. In truth i would hope you were relaying information, from a grass roots perspective.

"When is the Board going to act?"

Does anybody think that that message from McLardy is, in any way, the Board either acknowledging there's an underlying problem or doing anything about it?

So, apparently, the answer is "not yet, anyway..."

If my source was not reputable i would have said nothing i assure you.

I do not spread lies on here there is no point.

We all love the MFC.

If you think i am lying that is your choice.

Look at the stats of the 8 games so far. It tells a lot.

If i said i had first hand info, that would be lying. I am just passing on what i was told.

I think the club needs to act swifly. Not for the supporters sake but for Neeld. While i think he should be under scrutiny, he has been in a baptism of fire. 186 and its continued fallout. The club culling good leaders under Bailey and leaving a poor culture and NO leadership. Neeld needing to act and replace the old group with an inexperience core group of leaders not ready to perform as leaders. The death of Jimmy and bad performances after his death and tribute match, the continued poor performances (Neeld to take some responsibility). Misfud - gate!!!!!!!!!! The need to build fitness whilst in season. The new game plan etc etc etc.

Neeld as a new coach has not been allowed to settle into a role without incident. Some of it his own doing with crap comments of hardness, putting players he did not know into media scrutiny (Watts). A bad move as Jack copped enough without Neelds comments. the fall out from senior players, and an over emotional first round post match media conference that left himself wide open with over emotional responses to a BAD loss etc etc etc

A seasoned performer would struggle let alone a rookie coach. I'm glad McLardy is stepping up this week. i would like to see Mahoney step up and perform without using MFC.com as your only tool, step up in the mainstream Mahoney and take the pressure off Neeld. The media loves us at the minute coz we are a rabble. Its not like they wont listen to you!!! Neil Craig, step up and take over, your a seasoned performer in the media and the Guru to Neeld. The media want to hear from you too.

Give Neeld a break, he needs to do his craft - Coach without distraction. C'mon MFC - Step up, show solidarity from inside and supporters will follow. We are fractured inside and out

And Neeld, recognise your a Rookie and step back. You have too much 'COACHING' to do and the media will have a field day whilst you sort out the crap with your big stupid comments in the media performances (at times). I just hope you can sort it out and give everyone hope. Focus on the small stuff and let others cope with the bigger bull crap stuff (at this stage/[point)

how do you know they haven't acted?

just because the media don't know doesn't mean they haven't

doesn't mean they have either

point being they could be doing a lot but not necessarily broadcasting it to every tom dick and demonlander

I resent being called Harry DC

Jokes aside I thing you could well be correct.

I hope that things are being done as I type.

As always time will tell

But I am way past platitudes

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.
