The only hope I see for the rest of this year is a totally new way of thinking. It's obvious the players are not getting the Neeld message and have not understood what the new game plan is - was. As a spectator I can't see any form of game plan either. Sack the new coaches and save some dough. Tell the players to forget all the b......t about stats, just go out and play football, enjoy it and have some fun. I reckon that's a game plan they and us might like, it cannot be worse than what we are seeing at the moment. I am sick of hearing every week we were better in this area this week and we can see improvement long term, I mean what's a ten goal defeat when the improvement is there for all to see. Cut out the crap boys, just go out and play footy and enjoy it, I am sure the results could not be worse than the rubbish being dished up at the moment.

I'd rather have a well resourced football departement with a clear vision of where they want to go than abandon all hope, rip out what ever remaining fabric of the footy club is left and then resort to under 10's footy. Calls for sacking the coaches and making wholesale off-field changes now would just be a knee-jerk reaction that can only serve to hinder our development further.

Norm Smith was criticised when he lost 7 games in a row...........Mark Thompson was almost sacked just before they won two flags .......How about we all just settle down and wait......Too many drama queens on here.

Both totally different situations mate. So irrelevant. Norm was a proven coach, Geelong werent facing the wooden spoon when they were reviewing Thompson's performance. Whereas after a 4 year rebuilding phase we are worse than previously and on current form may be outclassed by two new teams of almost teenagers.

Rather than there being too many drama queens, there are too many apologists. Half the reason we are where we are is because peole accepting mediocrity.

This is more of a broad statement than a comment to you wyl. I need to vent after reading some absolute trip over the last couple of weeks.

The way I see it, melbourne supporters have two options.

A. Take the losses on the chin and come back and support your team

or

B. Say it’s all too tough and throw away your membership while having a tantrum

I don't know about the character of many people here, but being a demons forum I'd assume the members here are in it for the long haul. Myself, I'll be watching the Demons for the next 60 odd years. We could win the next 60 spoons, but I'll still be back at the G' ready for more. We are all angry, sometimes depressed, and ultimately craving finals football once more. We will make finals again, we may obtain that 13th premiership or we may never get there, but this is a ride that I'll never be getting off. Nothing makes me angrier than soft supporters who can’t hack a few poor years and then throw in the towel. Not after what our late president has done for this club.

We , as a club cannot afford to have a 3-4 win season . Forget prized draft picks for a minute and think about the financial pressure that having such a dismal season will bring .

Membership would drop off , close to zero prime time free to air games on the tele next year which in turn would affect sponsorship . Our revenue streams would all take a hit thus affecting our FD spending .

We need to start playing a decent brand of football - now . Crowds are already starting to dwindle and we're all gonna hear about it if the Queens birthday crowd isn't good .

It's all very well for Neeld to talk about development , whilst possibly not seeming to care about winning as much . We've all heard this "development" stuff before . Ad nauseum .

A bottom 3 position on the ladder at the end of the season is unacceptable in my eyes and can't be allowed to happen .

It's going to get worse still before it gets better. Theres every chance we'll lose to GWS and or GC this season. So I guess we better buckle up and not hit the panic button. Neeld and Craig and whoever else is having game plan input just cant be as bad as they look right now. Sometimes I trust them saying " we have a direction" and sometimes, after watching the way we play... I dont. But I have to admit that having appointed Neeld there isnt any choice but to trust the direction he wants it to go...at least for the next 2 years. Im with you Nascent....Im a dee for life. Yep , as tempting as those low number draft picks might be , we can't go down that track again . It's the wrong way of thinking and for us at least - hasn't really worked .

We need to learn how to win again - every time we play .

We also need to be mindful of free agency . Our club has to be attractive to potential free agents . Money talks but we as a club need to offer more than just money .

By the way , I'd give the no.1 draft pick to the team that finishes 9th . 10th gets no.2 , 11th gets no.3 and so on and so forth .

Play the season out by trying to win as many games as possible . Special dispensation could be given to teams that are genuine "basket cases". Arbitrarily of course .

Not a perfect solution but it does stop teams manipulating a loss or 3 . Unless a team doesn't want to finish 8th !!

Not sure the sponsors would be that troubled. Their brand is getting more airtime and exposure than ever. Naturally, more prime-time games broaden that exposure, but it's not as bad as one might think.

I'm inclined to agree. Watching GWS and the Suns run around with some of the most precociously talented boys I've ever seen, it's becoming clear that we're going to have make this draft count.

Neeld's path is the right one but without some class in the guts we've got Buckleys of ever being a serious threat.
