GAME DAY - Round 1

Featured Replies

If I was Neeld I would have said to the seniors you're playing for your career in this quarter, don't expect another game of AFL football if you don't earn it in the next 30 minutes

I can't stomach this rubbish. Disgusting. Constant bombing it forward. Every. Single. Time.

Why is Clint Bartram a leader?

Well, get used to it cos that's the game plan.

can't wait to see what happens next week, we'll give 186 a run i reckon

We are Melbourne remember. We'll probably get up next week

As someone on another website said "Who needs to die to make Melbourne want to win a game." Damn good question.

The thing about games starting early is they finish early and this one can't end soon enough !!!!

Howe does more damage than good with his flying for a mark. Serious needs to pee off and let Clark try and mark it!

But packs need to be crashed. Doesn't matter about the result, as long as the pack gets crashed!

I support an insipid team, our leaders are an absolute joke! Game over, can't even do it for yourself let alone a club legend who gave so much to us. I am really upset.

Wholesale changes needed, starting with the seniors.

FMD's.

Just one isn't enough right now.

High draft picks = Fools gold for us. This footy department is rotten to the core.

I think we need to move heaven and earth to get in as many free agents from successful clubs (read: Hawthorn, Geelong, Pies) to try and set a bloody example for our youngsters.

I was disappointed that me and the boys couldn't make the game today as my wife had to work.

Now I'm thinking of ringing her work and thanking them.

Put Clark in the ruck so he can at least get a friggin touch.

I'd rather Ross Lyon. He is an excitement coach compared to Neeld. No offense, we had it last year without a power forward. Where is it?

How many coaches does it take to teach how to kick, handball or win a football?

Maybe Neeld should learn to engage his club/players. It's called micro management. Dermie asks the right questions.

GUT WRENTCHING. again!

Lol at all our new coaches, new backline, forwardline coaches and their assistants. We need a psychologist. We don't need a psychologist- we need a team (to quote Seinfeld)

Bring back Bailey.

Bring on the draft hey?

actually almost relieved by this result as any expectations it was going to be an interesting season are now evaporated. I can concentrate on things other than MFC and AFL

You know it's time to go home when u see Colin Sylvia in Jim stynes room too worried about the chick sitting on his lap then watching his team mates

After 186 I felt hopeful because I knew it would be a catalyst for change. Now that change has happened, I just feel gutted by this poor performance. It is truly a disgrace to the Great Man Jim's memory.

Yeah I'm gutted by this. Never felt lower.

Brisbane are running it out of contests so easily

Thought Richmond were disappointing !

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
