Unlucky to miss out TRENGOVE & BEAMER if these guys all have big years and GREEN gets back to 2010 form we make the 8 easily

Which means 3 of my top 4 players in the afl and my number 1 demon were all melbourne supporters as kids. Talented bunch us supporters aren't we??

And yeh pennant st dee just made me realise I should probably have squeezed Sylvia in there somewhere

AFL:

1. Ablett

4. Selwood

5. Goodes

Melbourne;

1. Frawley

2. Jamar

3. Moloney

4. Sylvia

5.

I have left number 5 vacant, as I think there are a lot of players that are fighting for that spot, including Trengove, Jones and Garland. I can't put Clark in our top 5 yet.

The 2014 MFC Top 5 could be an interesting list, with players like Howe, Watts, Tapscott, possibly Viney (hoping he may have an impact similar to how Selwood did in his first season or 2 at Geelong), as well as the players mentioned above.

AFL

1. FRANKLIN

2 .ABLETT

3. GODDARD

4. JUDD

5. PENDLEBURY

DEES

1. SYLVIA

2. FRAWLEY

3. TRENGOVE

I think the Good Doctor has nailed it.

He has even realised that Swanny is in his Transition to Retirement stage.

AFL

1. ABLETT

2. FRANKLIN

3. JUDD

4. N. RIEWOLDT

5. J. SELWOOD

DEES

1. MOLONEY

2. JONES

2. FRAWLEY

3. WATTS

5. TRENGOVE

1. Ablett

2. Judd

3. Franklin

4. Scarlett (the best full back I've seen)

5. Pendlebury

-------------------

6. Cloke

7. Selwood

8. Goodes

9. Cox

10. Bartel

Goddard had a poor year.

Frawley

Jamar

----------

Trengove

Sylvia

Moloney

The top 5 I'd like to see by year's end:

Trengove

Frawley

Clark

Watts

Grimes

AFL

1. Judd

2. Ablett

3. Franklin

4. Pendlebury

5. Selwood

MFC

1. Frawley

2. Jamar.

3. Trengove

4. Garland

5. Sylvia

1. Franklin

2. Judd

3. Ablett

4. Pendlebury

5. Bartel

1. Frawley

2. Moloney

3. Jones

4. Jamar

5. Sylvia

Since money talks loudest these days, T$ is top of the list. The rest are not worthy.

Im not sure how anybody cannot have Ablett as number one!

AFL:

1. Ablett

2. Franklin

3. Pendlebury

4. Murphy

5. Bartel

Melbourne:

1. Frawley

2. Jamar

3. Jones

4. Trengove

5. Moloney

1. Ablett

2. Swan

3. Judd

4. Pendlebury

5. Franklin

1. Frawley

2. Grimes

3. Jamar

4. Garland

5. Jurrah

1. Moloney

2. Jones

3. Grimes

4. Magner

5. Chip sorry only care about the dees but i will say moloney could well be top 5 in the brownlow this year.

Ablett.

Judd.

Franklin.

Bartel.

Hodge.

And if the game was in the balance and something had to happen .... Bartel would be the man .

Franklin- Unstoppable when on and can single handedly destroy teams and win games

Ablett- See above

Pendlebury

Judd- Still rate him higher than Murphy because he does it with 3 blokes hanging off his back

Hodge- Another who when he is fit is almost unstoppable

And for the Dees i have tried to go with our top 5 most critical to success:

Jamar

Frawley

Clarke

Sylvia

Moloney

Surprising seeing how the reigning Brownlow Medallist makes so few of these lists...

Not really.

Johnathon Brown.

Wayne Carey.

No brownlows there but at their peak they had no peer.

Swanny was extremely consistent but if all 5 or 6 of the best were playing at their peak, I believe other players ate ahead of him.

For dees to play finals...these guys need to have a good year

Captains...

Grimes

Trengove

Mids

Jamar->Moloney

Jones

Fwds

Clark

Green

Def

Frawley

Garland

Rivers

Utility

Sylvia

Martin

IMO, he gets a lot of the ball, which attracts the umpires' attention, but is far less damaging with it than any of those players mentioned. Very rarely able to change the trajectory of a game off his own back.

AFL

1. Ablett

2. Swan

3. Pendlebury

4. Judd

5. Selwood

Melbourne

1. Frawley

2. Jamar

3. Jones

4. Grimes

5. Sylvia

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
