Clash strip

Just wanted to know is it our decision to wear the white clash strip or is it the afl's doing?

Why i bring this up again is on the weekend i noticed the doggies have changed there clash strip from white too red with white shorts

and i thought they didnt look too bad, if the doggies can get away with it i think we should be able to do something similar, like a blue

top half and red bottom, and maybe even red shorts as well? surely this would work and look better for that matter then the all white tops

and shorts!

really dont see why most clubs just do what collingwood do with just a colour swap, Norf have cottoned on to this now as well and the

jumper looks good, hawthorn could do the same but they have some how made a jumper made up of brown & gold colours look worse!

What are others thoughts??

Ok... so if we play the doggies then they have red tops and we essentially have blue tops..ffs...I know, why dont all clubs go back to their original jumpers!!!......And yeah that Hawks jumper was terrible....

and so say all of me..........

Slightly off topic, but I found the Bulldogs jumper which they wore against GWS was much harder to distinguish from GWS than their regular jumper would have been.

The White strip is very popular as far as number of sales go though!

Quite like it myself.

It's rare to see anybody wearing these atrocious items . Where's the proof about the "sales" ? And I don't wanna hear "That's what the Club says" . Even if it is true , I say find another way to make money . I rarely see a time a time when these monstrosities of a garment are necessary . Get rid of them .

By our club trying to be "cool" they effectively annoy a lot of their core fans .

For the life of me I don't see why we just don't have more red / blue in our traditional strip when we a have a "clash" . And by red I mean red not pink ! We're red and blue . It's in our song last time I checked . No mention of white .

Cheers

Eveyone has their own tastes and opinions and I don't think everyone will ever be happy. That's what makes it such a popular thread to start....again!

We can wear pink shirts with lime green skirts for all I care, if it means we actually win something, sometime.

Really ? This might be taking the "Win at all costs" bit a tad too far .

Can you see the fans in the crowd wearing these outfits ? Unless of course , that is their fashion sense !

I'll pass

Cheers

The scary thing is some probably do already!

Yep , and another way of looking at it is that our club has effectively changed the colours of the club . Did the members vote on this ? Did I miss something ? Is "Keep your eye on the red , white and blue" the new last line in our song ?

I fully understand that many members of our club could embrace these clash jumpers but they need to be mindful of tradition as well .

I'm all for change when necessary but what's next ? "The (insert sponsors name) Melbourne Demons" or "The (insert sponsors name) MCG" . The latter may never happen but money talks . Some things should be left as they are .

Cheers

I like our clash jumper and and am happy to see it 5 or 6 times a year.

Don't get me started on the Clash Jumpers again. The white jumpers suck and always will.

The AFL rulings on the wearing of clash jumpers is flaky at best, & seems to suit certain clubs.

The MFC wearing a clash jumper against St.kilda....i rest my case.

I am a big big fan of our current clash juper. I really like it. Of course our normal guernsey is better, but i have no issues with our current clash.

Except it's white.

I'm a core supporter and I am fine with them.

Looks a lot better than the silver number we had a few years ago...

Tradition is tradition, but if we never changed from where we started - we would be wearing caps, we wouldn't be called the Demons, and...

...we would be wearing cricket whites.

Or, creams probably knowing the MCC - they would have us in creams.

Except it's white.

White is NOT right.. I have no idea why it's white! What happened to the blue and red one from a while back?

White and pink I might add.

We look like damn strawberry swirls out there!

When did it become a strip and not a jumper? To much EPL around here.

If having a clash jumper is so important and such a so called money maker then why doesn't the biggest club of all not believe in them ?

I'm happy for our club to embrace all sorts of "new" things but changing the colours is not one of them .

New FD , new training facility , new sponsors , new players , new direction etc etc are all fine .

Cheers

I agree Macca. The strongest club in the land does not wish to change its colours because it wishes to remain the strongest club in the land. The MFC wearing white is not a sign of strength and i will never approve.

Not to get into the middle of this argument again, but...

I think equating not having a clash jumper and strength is specious.

I could easily argue stubborn over strong, pigheaded over powerful, and arrogant over aardvark.

Couldn't think of an 'A' word.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
