Rookie's unusual highlights package

Featured Replies

A bit surprised that the highlights package on the official website for mature- age Rookie, James Magner, consists of little else than perfectly executed sling tackles ( Trenners to note ? ). Obviously one tough unit, but can he play ?

I had a look and could not find it.

Do you have a link?

I don't know how to post it, but if you go to Dee TV on the club website and scroll through the videos there are highlights of all the new recruits.

I'm not that savvy........... but where you see the three thumbnails on the MFC site under the DEE TV screen just hit the arrow and it's the very next one to slide across.

Here is a longer highlights reel of 'Mitsubishi' someone downloaded on Youtube.

Solid meat and potatoes grunt midfielder ... Likes a goal, too.

Just the man we need to tackle (pardon the pun) the likes of Swan and Judd.

Ok...really like the look of this guy. Contested mark or what!....Tackles, good in tight, reads the play very well, can even ruck and likes a goal.....more of this please.

When Magner tackles they stick don't they! Will have to watch those sling tackles though. No use to us in the Grandstand.

Will be good to see how he goes in the NAB cup... Reserve judgement until then...

He will need to watch the sling tackles though. Other than that, he's got good ball-sense around the stoppages, breaks tackles and can kick goals out of traffic. Slight question for me on pace. We'll find out next month.

The sling tackle is an umpiring mistake just about every time- think about the rules .

"that is desperation" we have needed this for so looooooong.........it would appear this kid can go very nicely, now for the next level, I certainly hope he can.

Thx 4 the clipz ppl

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
