MFC players you're most looking forward to watch in 2012

Surprising no has mentioned Stefan Martin. One of the very very few positives from last season. If he continues on his improvement curve he is going to be awesome.

Too right .

Stef and Russian are going to form the best ruck combo in the comp .

"Haircuts " ,Lord Howe and Killawatts were great for mine in a bleak 2011 .

Looking forward to seeing all 22 picked week in week out playing their guts out looking over their shoulders knowing others are waiting to take their spots and have the form to step in.

Agree with you, the way the thread seems to be going they're answering who will be the Step Martin of 2012. Expectations but plays out of their skin or really ups there game. If Stefan holds his form from last year ill be 1 presently surprised and 2 watching Melbourne rise up the ladder.

maybe I am a boring old bugger but I cant wait to see 22 games out of Frawley. All Australian 2 years ago and pre season injury rob us of is best last year.

Jamie Bennell for mine.

I watched him last year and noticed an improvement. His pacey runs out of back were impressive, as were Blease's. If JB can take it up a level next year, I think (hope) people will be surprised.

Would have to improve a hell of a lot 5 poss agerage per game is just not good enough Don't belive he will play many games this year.

I don't think dean played JB correctly for his potential last year. As I said, I noticed an improvement with his pace. He just needs more of a shove. He has to show it in the NAB cup, or your right, he may struggle to get into the 22. He's just a favourite of mine.

JB is better than last year. He has potential to be a gun if used properly. But i feel he needs the midfield to improve. But he has polish and can lay a tackle. In the first Richmond game last year he did some great things.

Edited by why you little

I agree, that richmond game was a cracker.

Whilst theres no doubt he needs to find more of the ball, he's one of those players that only needs to get the ball a few times a quater to have an impact. Rarely wastes a disposal.

Yes, but when the midfield is rushed his options are limited.

He has a long way to go but if i was Neeld JB would be a player i would have high hopes for. Big MCG is great for pacy little blokes. Can play both ends in similar fashion.

Jurrrrrahhhh, .......Grimes, Frawley, Bail, Clarke, Howe and Watt.....and some of the new recruits!

Counting the days to see some of our 'potential' be realised. Its an ugly word as I fear saying it often sounds like we over-rate our list. But what I really want to see is the following:

1. Bate. Loved watching him play in 2007 roaming the flanks. Watched a few games of Casey this year and could not understand peoples perception that he is slow, at that level he looked very sharp. Anyways, hoping he can turn it around in the guts.

2. Morton. Don't know why, would just love him to play some great games as he just cops so much stick not only on this site but everywhere! Strikes me as a confidence player and would love to see him get a bit of swagger.

3. Gysberts. Was at his first game watching with interest as this rake of a kid was right in amongst it against probably one of the greatest midfield combinations we will ever see. Even the cats supporters developed a soft spot for him. Few more kg's on the rig and he will a real winner!

4. Sellar. Cant believe we drafted him as thought he was a spud at the Crows and a waste of a pick. I think for a while he was even playing two's in the SANFL which for a first round pick in the 'super draft' (IIRC) is pretty disappointing. Anyways James, I hope you prove me wrong, make CHB your own and release a Chip or Garland!

5. Davey and Green. Just to see them back to their best. They were awful last year, we know it, the club knows it and most importanly they know it. I am so excited to see them get back into it and shut everyone up.

But really... just looking forward to footy again!!

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
