Sheedy is doing what Sheedy does best , letting fly with his tongue.

Todays gem is " I hope Fremantle get raided " Seems hes taken some sort of umbrage at the treatment his litel mate Harve's got from Freo....the ol' heave ho !!

Coming from the master of spin and re-invention I find this ludicrous at best and downright snidely hypocritical at worst.

Are we to believe Sheedy knows anything currently about 'above board ' or "respect for the truth " ?

This is the same man who helped orchestrate nicking Palmer from the same Fremantle ?

This the same man who not only lied himself but helped coerce a young lad to do likewise for the past year ? Yes you Kev and your childlike sniggering.

So here we have a man who would happily employ the power of the cheque book providing its to his own gain but take offence should anyone else do that?

Words fail me Kev. I used to rate you but your now just a old grumpy, senile, seagull loving martian.

The past fortnight should have served to convince the community that the dominant culture of the sport at it's elite level is based on hypocrisy and lies.

There's no need therefore to single out one person.

Let's just move on.

I am torn down the middle on my analysis of Sheedy.

I can't figure out if he is vindictive, scheming, vengeful, calculating and hypocritical or if he is just plain looney tunes and has zero idea of what is coming out his mouth.

He's a PR genius devoid of any morals or memory - very hate-able!

Sheedy was given the job as coach of GWS because the AFL was acutely aware of the need to raise its profile in the rugby league heartland of western Sydney. I can't bring myself to hate him because he's doing his best to live up to the terms of his employment.

Regrettably, his other brief of assembling a football team that will be competitive at the elite of the sport is turning out to be shambolic. Despite the money and the lopsided rules that give him an unfair advantage in securing players, his club has failed to secure a big name player. His fistful of dollars has enabled him to assemble a few players who are young and have potential but none are proven matchwinners. He's also picked up a few players at the other end of their careers who have been dropped by their clubs. While there's more recruiting to come for the GWS, the likely outcome for this team is miserable performance. This is not going go appeal to the theatregoing public of Sydney.

He has another problem to deal with once his team is finally assembled. Sheeds and Choko are both past premiership coaches but anyone who appreciates what's involved in terms of the tactics and strategies applied in our swiftly evolving game would understand the enormity of his task and the inadequacy of the GWS coaching group to complete the task.

Sorry, but I can't bring myself to hate Sheedy or a club that seems so doomed to self-destruction.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
