I note, with interest and a level of intrigue, that Cameron S. has tweeted from China today ... in Chenzhen (which I assume means Shenzhen). Once of China's financial hubs ...

Hmm. Well spotted caddypgt. Makes you wonder doesn't it (?), or maybe he's on annual leave with his family.

Interesting to say the least!

Huawei

I think the HQ is in Shenzhen.

Big international supplier of Telephony equipment 90% of Wireless modems sold in Australia are Huawei.

Just starting to push there own branded mobile phones in aus.

Would be a good fit.

"Huawei, Huawei, we are the boys from the MCG"

would surely close the deal

Even if he was on annual leave, I guarantee that it would be a working holiday.

I'm sure the new sponsor will be announced soon.

I asked at the Demon shop when the new jumpers will be In and the guy said they're just waiting to finalise sponsors, we should have them In by Xmas.

That was two weeks ago.

Or is it the case the sponsor is known...the jumpers ordered but Sponsor has a specific date in mind ..for whatever reason....just speculating. !!

One of his previous tweets says there's a committed effort to getting the right hue for the red in the jumper. There will be a dark (blood) red. Where do the jumpers come from ? China.

Looking at the 3 new draftees shirts that they were wearing in the photos, when interviewed, their shirts show the name Energywatch on the front of their shirts.Just maybe, this sponsor maybe our only major sponsor.Just hope, this ain't correct. We really need another key sponsor.

Anyway much of this is purely our speculative guessowrk . Whilst watching a late night show I saw an ad for some Chinese mob called Chanhong.

Never heard of them before. They as it seems are the second largest manufacturer of Tellies in China, much of it exported. We havent seen this brand probably as much wil lhave been badged I imagine. But they are now spruiking in their own right. This reminded me of when LG came onto the Aussie scene. Paractically no one had heard of them before. I had slightly as I was buyiing Hifi ( I retailed) and they were an OEM mob for other brands before they also burst upon the scene.

LG is a household name now. We helped. Kapsersky is a household name now, we helped.

On the polo's, any major sponsor is displayed on the front, regardless of their position on the playing jumper.

Or just making hay while the sun shines.. Might as well give them some exposure until the real one is announced. They are after all coughing up big bikkies . No harm at all :)

keep in mind both sponsors are likely to be on front of shirt.. The jumper works differently

Yes exactly like that, i think they definitely need to make a move sponsorship wise if they want to become a player in the Australian market.

And if they are the second largest manufacturer in China then they will have the $$$$ to splash in our Market easily.

You can be first on the scene, maybe it was in the back of my mind from that post.

If CS is in China right now on a "working" holiday that is superb news for the MFC. Remember we are also the name of a very vibrant city that is part of a stable economy compared to the rest of Earth. This is where we need to use our name to it's very biggest advantage. I shall follow this news closely. By 2012 our jumper could be worth a lot of $$$

Chnaghong from wiki:

"In 2004, 90% of the television sets exported from China to the United States were made by Changhong."

That is BIG $$$$'s

That is BIG $$$$'s

Yes i thought that, but who else makes TV's in China?

Sony is Japanese, Samsung is Korean

I don't know. But making and Badging are 2 very different things now. Sony is Japanese yes but only a small amount of it's produce is actually made in Japan now. A Chinese manufacturing contract would be a HUGE get for the club.

WYL - has there been any mention of this company anywhere other than on this forum?

I hope you're right about the big $$$, but I don't think you will be. I still think the FoJ sponsorship will attract less than what Energy Watch paid for the back. While I appreciate that it shouldn't be the case (due to more exposure through media outlets for FoJ position), I just think EW paid overs.

The other thing that we have to remember is that while we are Melbourne, we are also the Melbourne Football Club. We have had a year from hell on-field, and we haven't tasted the ulimate prize since 1964. We have won 2 wooden spoons in the last 4 years. There are far more cons than pros when it comes to a company/organisation wanting to invest in to the AFL sponsorship market, but, if there are more EW-style companies that are happy to pay a premium price, I'll happily accept their money.

That doesn't not mean I under-value the FoJ sponsorship, I just think EW over-valued the BoJ which has lifted the expectations of many on here.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
