The Mitch Clark Thread

Featured Replies

If you read the oricle's (aka B59) posts, Mitch Clark will be happy to come to Melbourne via the National Draft, should Freo/Brisbane not complete the trade. He hasn't said no the the MFC, it's just that he didn't say yes. Make of it what you will...

I knew youd get there eventually. ^_^

I will probably get shouted down for this but I personally think that we ought to be a little more bold with our offerings and try to land tippet.

Given that picks (even early ones) are speculative and by no means guaranteed, and given that we were "awarded" 2 compensation picks to replace $cully we should use them.

We also know exactly what we are getting with next years first rounder in Viney.

I would be all for offering Adelaide all 3 first round picks for Tippet and offering him $500,000 a year for 5 years.

People will scream "overs!" but is it really?

It's a publicised weaker draft and a draft in which we have 2 extra first rounders in which to replace a high quality, young and potentially elite player. So lets use them as such.

Our regular first round pick I would be prepared to use on the same player if for nothing else than it's not speculative but rather an assured pick used on a quality player to fill the most glaring hole on our list.

I think if it would take something extraordinary or "overs" to lure Tippet and we can afford to do so then why the hell not?

Would certainly be a big statement. Of all clubs we have a very first hand knowledge of the fact that there are no guarantees with high draft picks at all. At least with Tippet we know he can deliver and if we can pay him 2.5m over 5 then we will also have an major piece of the puzzle in place when the window opens

Nup, he is out of our grasp now.

He said if he can't get to freo, he will enter the PSD

We wont pick him up in the PSD if he has already said no.

I am sick of not being able to attract decent footballers.

I like it except he wants to go live in Queensland lol - worth a shot luring him with the cash though! - could get him here with 12 + compo i would have thought then pay him $500+ just like Clark

The compo picks cannot be used until next year, which is touted as a super draft

So 1 1st round pick in weak draft + 2 1st round picks in a super draft.....for Tippet? who wants to play in QLD?

No thanks

Logic disctates that Lions WILL accept 16 and 20 , as opposed to nothing. He ( MC) will never get to the PSD, its just a ruse.

Yeah great Idea - lets waste more time on another bloke that wants to live interstate!

"IF" MC elects to go to the PSD or ND draft, and Freo look to screw Brisbane it would be rude of us not to pick 12 on him....

Richmond get Addam Maric, Brisbane get Pick 12 & McGuane, StKilda get 2nd or 3rd round pick from Brisbane,

Melbourne get Tom Walsh.

Let me get this straight we loose Maric - while he has little value and will probably go PSD fair enough

We give Brisbane pick 12

and get Tom Walsh - who is tom walsh is he valued at pick 12 and Maric I would like what your taking.

Clark will not go into the pre season draft. Brisbane will accept picks 16 + 20 on Monday. Pure and Simple.

And Clark in the PSD lol

There'll be no IF. The Lions have now got two perfectly good picks 16 and 20 on the table, a distinct improvement on the original offer. Now they know its all over bar the shouting they ( Lions ) can stop postulating and start signing. Simple really

No need to wait til Monday.. Now they know the currency Lions can look to either use them or trade them , time is of the essence.

i think he's basing it on the assumption that Brissie will guarantee that they will refuse to deal with Freo, thus forcing clark into the psd and for us to collect

This offer is still speculation

This offer is still speculation

so I just read. Brisbane denying it.

goes to that sage comment by another that trade week is Lies Week !! lol

the Thick Plottens yet more..lol

I am really disappointed.

Is his preference to still go west, but will still be happy if freo and brissy cant come to terms and he ends up at the dees?

Are we backing down or still pushing for him?

Does anyone know?

Thanks

His preference has always been to go west and While we made a play it was speculative at best.

Why would you draft a guy through the PSD if he has refused to come to you during trade period

The Clark deal is dead we are best to move on and I believe secure elite midfield talent either by trade or by development with compo picks

We should of said to GWS well give you 12 and 2 compo picks for pick 2 and 5 and drafted us someone to replace the traitor

So Brisbane do not accept The Shockers offer Mitch Clark has stated he would prefer to go into the PSD than play for Melbourne???

Is this correct?? Do we stink that much to our opponents??

Bloody Hell maybe that Denham turd was on to something.....

Not sure if it's been posted already. But there's a Clark article on the Freo site.

He wants to go home for family reasons it's always been his preference

out of Freo and Melb as a speculative player I'd pick Freo everyday of the week

get there injuries right and they are top 4 material we on the other hand are speculative at best

and he is still just as far away from his family.

this was all part of Brisbane forcing up Clark's price we conveniently assisted them.

He'll go to the PSD because he knows he will get to Freo that way. He wouldn't nominate if he thought GWS would pick him up.

If Mitch Clark goes in the PSD he could end up anywhere...At least at the MFC he was going to be well paid

But he still prefers to take a chance over the MFC....My God we have to improve next year.

Denham was on to nothing. Last time I checked Melbourne is some distance from Perth. Clark wants to return to Perth.

I think it is that simple demoniac.

He wants to go home it could have been the Pies or the Cats chasing him it would have made no difference.

Well it was a nice dream for 24 hours.

Yes i know that, but to put a PSD lotto ahead of our deal doesn't bode well.

WYL it will not come to that, the Lions have a good offer from Freo and they will accept it before closure next week.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
