The Brad Crouch Thread

Featured Replies

Reported on Trade week radio - pick 2 of mini draft to Adelaide it is looking. That will mean we miss out on Crouch.

Unless they take Kennedy from SA, dont know why they would go so hard for pick 2 if this was the case? could get him just as easily with 3

Also Crouch was meant to be the 2nd most effective kick in the TAC last season, so can hit a target by reports

Maybe were in DEEP for pick 1... one hopes

Doubt we would get pick one and GC would miss out on pick 2 in the mini draft

Looks set that GC and Adelaide are more attractive offers than ours

and we miss Crouch or O'meara

Maybe we gave traded Warnock and Pick 12 to the Gold Coast, in exchange for one of their comp picks, which we have on traded with one of our compo picks to the GWS for Pick 1 in the mini draft.

Where do we sign?

Is there a possibility we knew we wouldn't get it done and have pulled back telling GC we wont bid you up if we can get a good deal done for Toy?

Can't see that happening. Basically Gold Coast get Warnock + pick 12 and we get O'Mera and lose pick 12. Gold Coast would not do it!

The first part of it is possible (not remembering what compo picks they have). It's bloody hard to work with the compo picks. One we got for "the [censored]" is straight after our first pick (when we choose to activate it), so hypothetically if it were this year, it would be worth pick 13. Next year, if we finish finish 13th again, that same pick would be worth pick 7. An amazing difference.

I like it, but i dont know what GC can give us? Warnocks value isnt high on his own

Let's not forget that O'Meara wouldn't be a lock in for Pick 1 for the ND in 2012. If the GC win less than 5 this year, they will get a priority pick next year, so in essence, have pick 1 in the draft (meaning they will get the true number 1).

A lot of the hype for O'Meara and Crouch is because they are the best available in the mini draft. If there were no such beast, and both boys were in the 2012 National Draft, they will obviously be taken high, but not necissarily number 1.

It's difficult to read too much into a 90 second video clip. Have a look at Luke Shuey's from his draft year and he butchers numerous kicks, yet we know how good he is. We sit back and back the recruiters that have spent hundreds of man hours pouring over tapes and watching live footy.

Crouch will go to Adelaide.Finalisation will be done early Thursday.

I'm not that disappointed, particularly if consider the following players:

Tom Hill (passed over in 1st available draft, WB - pick 89 in his 2nd),

Tom Swift (WC - pick 20),

Matt de Boer (Freo - rookie draft pick 19)

All these players were highly rated underage players expected to go early 1st round. Hell I even remember reading about Jack Fitzpatrick being a potential top 5 pick at one stage. I'm sure there are countless more examples.

I'm more than content in saving our compensation picks for future drafts or to use for an experienced player.

I'm not sure to think.

Clearly we were never in with a chance with O'Meara however I'd like to see some more details on the Crouch situation. It does seem a little off.

Poor form by us to be honest if we only offerred 1 compo pick.

yeah i heard that, but probably on BF haha

This article suggests that adelaide are still deciding between Kennedy and Crouch. If they do select Kennedy, it will be interesting to see where Crouch ends up going in next years draft. Of course adelaide still need to get the deal done 1st, just a little over 3hrs left now. Surely they have it wrapped up?

This is the gamble for Adelaide, they wont get 2 top 10 picks so easily if Crouch walks after 2-4 years i would have thought.

Cant see them passing him up, funny it isnt finalized yet but i dont see kennedy in the same league, small forward vs mid/hbf

15 minutes left wow 2pm for the mini draft......

cutting it fine, harrington made i tsound like we were definately done with it though

Done. Just announced by Adelaide. They're going after Crouch.

Agree, Kennedy would have to be something pretty special to pass up a reportedly star midfield prospect

Is it a 2:00pm deadline? I was under the impression it was at 5. Strange the deal hasn't been done since it seemed to have been done and dusted last night.

The Crows confirm they've secured pick 2 and will go after Brad Crouch #tradeweek

Big waste of time on our behalf and we continue to waste our time in chasing Mitch Clarke. Seriously, what are we doing?

And pray tell how we were ever going to beat pick 2?

Well there you go... Would have been nice to pick up one of those picks but can't say i'm disappointed. We still have a good hand for future drafts or to possibly deal for an experienced player.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
