THE LAST GAME DAY OF 2011

Featured Replies

Bate kicks another. 51-46

Really pleased with his game this arvo.

Jack Watts has had a great year but the GC game and this game so far have NOT been highlights! Just can't find the thing.

I think we;re about to break the record of most amount of frees given away while trying to break a tackle.

And that's without Scully playing.

It killing me.

Good fight back but should be expected against the bottom side. Wasted chances, otherwise been the cleaner side today.

Seen worse games.

They're having a dip. They were 3 goals down but fought back well against terribly one sided umpiring and inaccurate goal kicking.

Bate and Morton good. Beamer too.

Wattsy can't get into it.

kicking at goal.....ewwwwww

Two things are killing us at the moment. The first is conversion. We're missing bread and butter shots at goal while Port have been pulling goals out of their backside.

The second is ridiculous umpiring in favour of the home side. How does Sam Blease get legged AND get a clear handpass away, yet still give away a free for HTB. Absolute horse [censored].

We should still win from here. Bate's having a blinder!

On a side not, does anyone else think that Viney snr has an uncanny resemblance to Stallone?

Thank god there's only another hour of our season remaining

Love the Toddy ( and Barrass)

"I dont respect talent, I only respect what you do with it "

Blease has quick legs but a slow mind and hands at the moment.

Bate is having a blinder!

Strong ,silky and accurate .

No I'm not on drugs .

I've just got back from a two week spell for discussing poor Cale .

I've worked it out with him- he is a sheer confidence player and he just cant take a trick .

If he kicked that goal we'd be 6 in front .

and he would have got on a roll

On the other side of the globe we're actually without the scores and stage of the game - would someone post that please?

Hopefully Toddles is a little more verbally skilled than Rambo .

I'm listening to it on the AFL site go on to Live Radio and select a station. You need Microsoft Silverlight and on my Mac that stops the live updates coming through.

Horrible delivery inside fwd 50 by Green. Great goal from Jones in the end though!

Gee weve missed Bail...

Merci beaucoup

Some observations.:

Skills that weve completely got down pat and make for a wonderful foundation.

An unerring ability for the many to stand around watching everyone else . Bravo bravo

When going forward its very important to kick to a dead pocket where theres at least a two on one ( their favour) contest.

Very important to WAIT until oppostion has got the ball before tackling( maybe) or better yet running off them and providing their passage

Have shown immense skill at teh 'hero' kick up forward whereby you just blast aimlessly forward hoping to get near goals instead of setting anyone up. Nearing our forte !!

Falling over.. ..we're tops at that.

Truists of the game will rejoice that the hospital pass is alive and well... Go Dees

How in the world are we in front !!!

Bater is freakin me out.

Another goal assist .

Mr Clean!

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
