Dear Ross Lyon,

For the past 5 seasons I have HATED the St. Kilda football club.

It has had nothing to do with the club per se, but almost 100% to do with the game style that you have cultivated.

When I turn on the TV and the saints are on, I turn it off. I'd prefer to watch lawn balls in most instances.

It's ugly, boring, and what's more has led to players as poor as Brett Peake (who I'm not sure would have gotten a game with any bottom 4 club) playing on the last day in September.

Dear Ross Lyon COME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTY CLUB.

I'm serious...As true as the above statements are, it's time for success, and Ross is a winner.

Melbourne has greater depth today than the Saints have had the previous two years. Melbourne will have comparable upper echelon talent, and with a decent coach will be able to recruit some reasonable additions.

It's time we won something and I don't care how. Ross is a winner, and he's hungry. He's no sixty year old with a big mouth, growing ego, and nothing left to prove. He's young and an innovator. He's 100% the man we need. He's turned Goddard (see Sylvia) into a top 10 player. And when it comes down to it, he does let his best players play their best footy.

We need the Ross Lyon era, we need it more than the Malthouse era.

While I'd also be happy with Choco, a 5 year contract for RL seems wise.

Go Dees, I look forward to winning ugly and enjoying success

Ross Lyon is by far my favorite person in football (that includes any coach, player, commentator, official commentator etc) He is not only a great coach but a terrific bloke and he just never fails to make me laugh! It would be a dream come true to see him come to the club I love & I'd buy 20 memberships if we sign him because we would finally be able to create a winning culture!!

To change the culture of the club it has got to start from the top down. Certainly the coach must have it (and I think Ross Lyon does) but all officials within the club must live and breathe it. We have a long way to go both on and off the field.

A brides-maid era is needed more than a premiership era?

How many premierships did Blight win at St. Kilda?

I don't get the Malthouse worship.

Great coach - yes

But why are we treating him like he's notre dams? No one spoke of Mark Thompson in the same light as they do Malthouse, why? Seems to have had a more extended period of success in the "modern era".

If we were giving 3 year contracts than I'd be less apprehensive, but a 5 yr contract seems like a retirement present for a 60 yr old coach

What's with the Blight reference, how is it relevant to my post?

I am not treating Malthouse like "notre dams", just merely acknowledging him for the premiership coach (fact) that he is. Put the shoe on the other foot and ask why all the love for Ross Lyon? The guy who is 0 from 3 in Grand Finals (fact).

Ahh, Spot - on 'pitchfork'... This is my argument as well. He's Not the new Messiah, but the Club & it's facilities have taken them up to where the other top teams were.

The Saints & Cats have Slid a little,,, as have the Doggies over the last 3 years, not in ladder, but in playing Power. this has evened out the competion a little, but the Pies are ahead with their superior fitness and the gamestyle built around that fitness.

This is why Malty wants to keep the interchange rotations high. It reduces the effectiveness of true tough footballers and plays into the hands of his athletes.

You said it brother , and with a talented list he didn't build but was gifted to him .

Thats right .... No-one .

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
