Changes v Gold Coast

Only listened on the radio but it sounded like Morton was OK??

Will have a coronary if Bate is brought back into the team. VFL form aside, he's going to be gone next year, same with Dunn & Warnock.

OUT: Morton, McKenzie, Davey (suspended), Sylvia (suspended)

IN: Jetta, Nicholson, Bail, Bate

no way for bate, he's only a good vfl player.

i know davey is a certainty to lose weeks, but what about sylvia??

I was struggling to think of anyone to come in.

EDIT: I forgot about Tapscott.

Sylvia suspended is a worse case scenario. Kennedy got off for breaking Sylvia's jaw in a similar incident but the MRP is a lottery these days.

Love to see Nicholson and Bail (if he's ready) in to finish out the year.

Davey is definitely gone (not complaining), Sylvia may get off?

I only heard snippets on ABC and it seemed that "Morton didn't commit" was a common theme.

He actually played his best game of the year...not that the bar was set that high.

In: Jetta, Bail, Tapscott(sub)

OUT - Sylvia, Davey, Scully

Morton was ok but he is the scapegoat. Davey gone for the year regardless of the suspension, he is a sad coward.

Out Scully, Davey Green.

In Tapscott, Gawn, Bail.

Clint, were you at the game? Your call to drop McKenzie is the worst one I have heard this year. Strap yourself in to the lounge chair and force yourself to watch the game carefully rather than shooting it off. Then your observation and opinion might actually be worth reading.

Don't know if I watched a different game but thought Morton was good. Davey should not play again this year suspended or not. Jurrah will prob play next week but a couple of times today showed a complete lack of desire for the hard ball. Scully will be the highest paid player possibly in VFL history if the $ 1 million price tag is correct and will be well deserved.

Disappointed!

Out: Davey, Green, Morton, MacDonald

In: McDonald, Davis, Tapscott, Bail, Jetta (if Sylvia suspended)

His refusal to kick the ball is costing the team dearly. He needs to go back to Casey to work on his kicking, wasn't the worst but that turnover at the end of the game on the forward fifty which lead to a Richmond goal was nothing short of inexcusable.

Sylvia should and will go. Kennedy does not provide a viable precedent.

Davey should go for longer for his gutless. It was undisciplined and was a cheap shot. He is an embarrassment as a team leader tonight.

I do kind of agree. His hands aren't good enough below his knees or good enough in tight. I love his attack and tackling, don't mind him just doing the basics but when it doesn't come off he looks bad. Still deserves his spot in the team.

Was merely pointing out the irony of the MRP situation with Sylvia and his bump.

The MRP do not even use precedent so there is no such thing a "viable" one.

Oh, look at that... McKenzie 14 contested possies, second only to Sylvia's 15! What a surprise... Clint, your bagging hiim for one clanger and yet I witnessed (in person Clint) more gutsy determination in and under than I have seen from any MFC player this year, including McKenzie. Give it up Clint, your just embarrassing yourself by pursuing this stupidity!

I dont think its relevant to the Sylvia case. I dont think the MRP is a lottery in all cases but I think Sylvia is cut and dry for a holiday.

I was at the game. FMD. that my friends was the Bailey game plan in all it's glory!

Morton got plenty of the pill. Didn't use it well enough though. At times he went in hard, at other times he should have gone harder.

Davey was atrocious. Green missed a couple but he at least contested and presented.

Scully had the fumbles bad.

Jones was fantastic. As was Sylvia. And fcuk I feel sorry for the backline.

I haven't seen tv replays of the Sylvia & Davey hits so I will take posters words that they will both miss.

On today's performance-

Out: Sylvia, Davey Scully

In: Tapscott, Bail, Jetta

There actually isn't anyone that stands out to be dropped this week, besides Davey who (sounds as if he) is gone.

Scully was good, by the way. Was clean in a really physical environment from what I saw.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
