We know GWS have approached Scully before the season started (confirmed by Stephen Silvagni), we know they gave Callum Ward a two-week timeframe (according to his mother) to make his decision more than 6 weeks ago, yet we have heard nothing more. I think the silence speaks volumes on both counts. Over-the-top offers have been made, and my guess is, accepted in both cases.

My sentiments exactly rpfc. I see absolutely no point in everyone getting their knickers in a twist over this. A timeframe has been laid out, it is being adhered to, in a month or so we will find out. Then I will either be very happy about (what I consider to be) a wise decision made, or very disappointed that (what I consider to be) a very short sighted decision has been made. Either way, no amount of postulating on here is going to make a lick of difference, either to the result or my comfort levels about the whole saga.

Clutching at straws still me thinks. I mean, if Scully was a bit unsure still, I cannot possible see how the last few weeks wouldn't have tipped him towards GWS. If he was worried about being in a poorly performing team up there, they probably won't ever go close to losing by 31 goals. There is far to much drama and conflict within the club right now, and even senior players (Sylvia) are rumoured to be considering jumping ship. I just cannot see Scully wearing the Red and Blue next year; he will be in the horrible orange and charcoal or whatever it is.

I agree with this. Up until the fallout of the last few weeks I was a believer that he wasn't gone, but why would you possibly stay after all that's gone on with the massive carrot they're dangling in front of him.

And for what it's worth, even though we all take these things with a grain of salt, have heard from a friend of a friend who was at the dinner last night that he's gone, confimed by a player (don't want to say which, but suffice it to say it was one of the guys who recently re-signed). Also reckoned that Connolly was gone too. Make of that what you will.

Well I wasn't at the dinner, but the quote in today's Herald Sun ("Can't comment, don't want to comment") doesn't fill me with much confidence, and Don's reference last night that the club won't be paying over the odds for any player leads me to believe the club is aware of Scully's decision.

Could be wrong and have heard that Viney, Gawn and Trengove suggested Scully is still every chance of staying, but that's just the way I've viewed the situation. My uncle who was there last night certainly thinks he's on the way out.

I think the sticking point is that he made a decision to wait until the end of the season before making a firm decision, and he's a stubborn, determined and relentless bastard who won't give in, no matter how much pressure is applied.

How did you work all this out? Did you read the bumps on his head? Jeez it looks like Tappy and Trenners are not so smart as Tom or you after all. Obviously they didn't think it through enough to make such hasty decisions.
