Oh, and apparently a couple of redheads have made news lately....

Edit: I'm referring to Harry Potter.....

I'm finding one of those redheads particularly taxing at the moment.

Think I should have used the bye better and watched some Harry Potter movies. Haven't seen one or read the books. Is there a pointy nosed, redheaded female, who is economical with the truth in them?

This is the best I could do for a "complete" match:

Dolores Umbridge

Dolores Jane Umbridge is the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, of which she is the primary antagonist. Her first name, relatively common in Spain, means "pains" in Spanish, and her last name is a play on the wordumbrage, meaning "a feeling of anger or annoyance". She is a short, squat woman described in the book as resembling a large pale toad, with "short, curly, mouse-brown hair". She speaks with a quiet, childish, high-pitched voice, and she loves kittens and other cute things, decorating her office with related paraphernalia. She has a tendency to speak to people she feels are her lessers in a very condescending tone, as if they are simpletons or very young children.

Sounds very much like Mark Jackson (except for the bit about being short). I'm 98% certain that GWS won't offer him a contract.

I haven't posted once in the TS thread, do I win a prize or something?

How about free membership for a year :)

You have won already, the right to post on this thread.

I suppose it will have to by the sound of things.

True, I feel legitimate now.

I actually feel less tense posting in this thread...

So what is going on?

Davey a chance this week? Surely not?

Sounds like you've gotten over any inhibitions of pride you may have had.

Truth be told, I never bothered with the TS thread because I have NFI on the scenario and any possible pov

that could have been expressed was. I'm saving my energy for future draft discussions which will inevitably go off the rails

one way or another.

So what is going on?

Davey a chance this week? Surely not?

Expecting Jurrah to dominate this week just quietly.

I hope your posting here means you have sworn off that 'other thread'?

Never!

Eager to defend a kid.

Anyway, back on topic, Darwin is hot. Sweat much?

Gloves? Check.

Think Davey is a big chance to be our sub in "Brutus the Crocodile" land. We need to warn the players to be aware of midges and put the repellant on.

Redleg I am struggling with this

Why?

He has not played in weeks

Out with a leg injury which must mean his fitness will be down.

On top of that his form before the injury was poor.

If I was the player he replaced I would be more than a little [censored].

I would even prefer JB before him at least he would be fit.

Just a hunch. Depends of course if he is fit. He is a Darwin boy. He can play as a sub and then, when on, play forward which won't require much running, but he could be dangerous around goals. He may give LJ a lift. Playing at Casey in these conditions may not help him and if he plays poorly, does he miss 3 more games as Casey then has a bye and he would need at least a good Casey game if he plays with them. He is a leader and can do some leading by being with the group and part of the team. He will have many people at the ground supporting him and he may lift for the occasion, given he played poorly in the indigenous round. Lastly the Coach hinted that he might play.

absolutely

and i think rpfc is trying to have his cake and eat it too

this thread should be a haven....and untainted

i can see your logic here redleg

i wouldn't be disappointed to see aaron get a run (if fit enough)

he's too good a player not to be given a chance and he might have been carrying an injury earlier in the year

he's one of the few genuine game breakers we have and saturday's conditions should suit him fine

We are 1525 posts behind the TS thread. I am getting concerned we won't catch up.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
