Bolton was considering his future last I heard, a retirement or two will leave some room for the Bloods.

They've got a few veterans as well don't they? They may well benefit from the new veterans rules whereby they can pay $100k to each that doesn't count in the salary cap.

Shades of the person who inspired this thread but with a difference.

Quite ironic that they both have the same Manager!

First Peter Bulcher very badly advises HWSNBN on the process which made him the least respected player in AFL. Now he is doing it again with Tippet. From the HS the other day: "...When Reid and Trigg did agree to re-contract Tippett in 2009 they also vowed to look more favourably on trade deals once Tippett opted to return to Queensland...A terse long-distance call between Paris and Brisbane - between Trigg and Tippett's manager Peter Blucher - has brought an end to that agreement..."

Why does Bulcher let his players lie like there is no tomorrow and get everyone offside! Is it so hard for them to tell the half truth of ...I'll look at my options at the end of the year... ala Brendon Goddard, Gary Ablett etc. We all know it is spin but they don't back themselves into a corner. Bulcher gets his guys (& himself) heaps of money but destroys their credibility in the process!

The up side is you cannot put "credibility" in the bank.

I think his clients would be very happy with their bank balances and in the example of Tippet only Crows supporters are unhappy.

Sounds like an all round win to me.

Not suggesting HWSNBN in this thread & Tippet not chase more $ etc, more that their Manager be smarter in how he manages their club changes and not back them into corners.

I am looking forward to trade week far more that I am looking forward to 10 AM monday. I have no doubt we will take JV, but I am just fearful that we have lost pick 3. If so, I will be on here monday venting. On the other hand if JV slips to our second round, I will be first in line to congratulate our FD for a job well done.

Just give me time to get back from Court and get the computer fired up.

Are you seeking an injunction against using pick 3 in F/S bidding?

I had thought that a veteran had to play 10 years at the one club - no doubt Vlad will have given the franchises special exemptions as he has for most things.

But they've got at least 3 or 4 vets, maybe more. It's a fair ol' wack they can pay outside the salary cap on top of their 9% extra.

Redleg, I will SMS the outcome at 10:05am. Please make sure you have your iPhone on silent, otherwise the Magistrate will have us both up for contempt of court.

That will be nothing compared to how I will feel if we lose 3.

I don't think I'll be venting unless we don't have JV in our stable. If we have to take JV with 3, so be it. For 3 years our club has been committed and making noises about Jack. if GC nominate bid we must take him at 3.

But if our club has somehow brokered a stealth deal sending him to be picked in the second round, leaving both picks 3,4, I will most likely be doing backflips.

Fingers crossed for a good start to trade week tomorrow.

An element to all this that I will take some solace from is the notion that essentially the club has been building up to this trade /draft period for a year. We ( as a club ) obviously have a plan. Weve targeted specific players and acknowledged other opportunities as they have arisen.

This is not ad-hoc. They will not be making decisions andd picks as some last minute knee jerk reaction.

None of the kids in the combine are news. ALL who were free agents were known. The types we wanted to trade for have been identified for a year or so.

I realise we may not get all of whom we have on a wish list but Im going to take it that we are focused and diligent. I also dont think we will be baited and hoodwinked.

Just seeing who weve looked at indeed schmoozed so far indicates to me were not too distracted by shiny things and glittering lights.

In light of how we reversed fortunes with you know who and came out smellign roses with prizes I have a restored faith in our ability to regrow this list.

Having said all that..please dont f#*k it up Melbourne ...lol :)

Let the games begin .

The most exciting time of the year for Demons has arrived.

Lets hope that we can start enjoying the footy again.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
