I got a wooden spoon for Xmas (someone thinks I am a Expansion Supporter)

"Rolex" I only got liquor.

On another note, I probably have 50+ old VHS tapes of Melbourne in the 80's & 90's. A lot of Jako (11 against NM etc) Anyone interested in converting them, or is it not worth it?

I did not think the MFC had a team in the VFL/AFL back in the 80's or 90's or the 10's for that matter. Well thats what my shrink keeps telling me.

Assuming it is a serious question, which is funny in itself.

If they cancel your service you lose all the saved data on your foxtel IQ.

It was a serious question. I don't have Foxtel IQ - I simply pay a monthly fee for a plan that gives access to certain stations. In my world a harddrive is part of my computer and Foxtel is pay tv - The twains don't meet.

Any news on the hard drive Mr. Leg?

foxtel iq is a box which detunes the cable signal (or satellite) and also contains a PVR hence the hard drive

so it's a digital tuner and pvr in one box

i asume you know what a pvr is

I know how much Redleg loves his racing videos but this has piqued my interest. If I kept videos of all of the shows, sports including footy I tape on iq, I would run out the 100% of space allocated very quickly. Is there a way to save certain material from your iq onto another drive or are you stuck with what Foxtel allocates?

[No abuse please - I know nothing about Foxtel. I just press buttons and watch the shows - thank you]

AFAIK your best bet is to buy a DVD recorder with 320+gig HD, dump the data onto the DVD recorder then burn to usb or dvd /cd disc. I know a panasonic dvd recorder will do it. But havent tried it with foxtel myself. Some tech wizards on here might know of a better way. I looked into this a few yrs ago. I have a panasonic recorder that I use to record, then burn to dvd from the TV, But never invested in foxtel. There was info on the net about setting this up.

I also have a lot of VHS tapes (of wins only) from the 80s to the present. Not many recent wins though.

Thanks for that - I might invest in one of those.

NP. But like I said that info was a few yrs ago, today there might be a better and cheaper way to do it. IIRC foxtel passes through the DVD recorder and the recorder to the TV. I used the panasonic not just for recording from the TV, but I edited a bucket load of VCR tapes on to cd /dvd edited out the adverts etc.So it has added benefits. Like anything in life do your research 1st. then make a descision.

They explained to me that the IQ box has a hard drive and they wiped it. I know there are more important issues in the world, but I am still [censored].

I would be too.

Any form of compensation Redleg e.g. Three months free subscription or similar?

A pvr? A pvr? Where do you think Romsey is ? When do you think Romsey is? Just let me test you DC - please explain what a pvr is in order that I can be sure of your credibility.

Understand. I have had similar issues with telstra. The problem is usually made worse because you are speaking to someone a zillion k's away who does not give a flyer.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
