Roos is never coming to the MFC.

He going to Perth

Is he?

Is he?

He purchased a house there. IMO that means he intends to live there.

MFC could do worse than watch LA Vuelta and emulate the culture and character of the Orica Green edge team

I'm guessing here but would I be right in saying that LA Vuelta is the team that represents Los Angeles in the Lingerie Football League?

According to the Mayan calendar the messiah is supposed to arrive this weekend. Not sure if this site can Handel that news.

I thought the Mayan Calendar ended in 2012?

I'd like to believe that you often write musings involving Handel on your iPhone, and as such autocorrect has altered your post.

It's more entertaining to me than a simple pun.

Very good, chuckle chuckle!

Not quite the same league

Sorry to divert you but I was in a state of near exhaustion and was playing with a new technology tablet (not the Essendon type) while the cycling race (LA Vuelta) was on in the background

Orica do resonante as doing many things well and I include the latest, (a quote from one of the cyclists re-signing for another season

"The team spirit is the most important thing for me. It’s a team full of fighters. We don’t have a lot of riders on paper who can win big races, but we’re always there. In the team’s first year, people didn’t think we’d get results because we didn’t have a lot of big names, but we did. That’s because of the team spirit.”

This is an Australian team including other nationalities which has indeed exceeded expectations

As I said MFC could do well to observe their practicesa

Good boy. He may prefer some ice cream in his smoothie rather than frozen yoghurt.

If Paul Roos gets wind of this thread and realises what the typical Melbourne supporter is like, there's no way known he'll coach Melbourne let alone ever look at a banana again.

Don't worry I'll reassure him that we are normal guys.

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God ...

No pressure of Mr Roos if he does come the MFC next season.

We don't expect a Premiership until 2015 and then one every year after that.

Oh and most MFC supporters are very normal, it just hard to find them these days.

Carlton give me the sh-ts.

Just throw it back at them!

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
