Anyone know how Gysberts, Moloney, Rivers and Steph are going. I missed the Cats games. Did Jared play and if so, how did he go. Will probably see Gysberts on friday.

Saw most of the Geelong game(s)... Riv looked good. Same stuff he's always done but now he has a good midfield around him to link up with. Will be very handy for the Cats.

It's quality of idiot that counts O.D

Well I have to say this may well be the saddest I have felt as a Demon's supporter in my life time

and there has been some poor days.

My wife said to me over Dinner

God's knows why a sane man would continue, go and watch Uni Blacks they give you way more joy.

She is probably right.

I think I am one episode of incompetence by a MFC administration away from quitting.

There is not much more left in me.

I hope a long single malt and a banana for breakfast will do the trick.

cannot think of a single smart thing to say dc

Come on Old. Sit back in your favourite chair put the old Perry Como record on, with your single malt and while away the half hour before you fall asleep dreaming of the red and the blue holding up the cup. One good thing is that the "new" tanking thread will be soon closed down but you, Red, WJ and others will discussing the benefits of a ripe v over ripe, normal v red tipped bananas. Bananas will never let you down. Just like your grandaughter.

Chin up, OD. One of my favourite Churchill sayings (and there are a few): "When you are going through hell, keep going". Sitting in the comfort of my armchair, I would have liked the MFC to go in harder and test this in court. However, I am not on the board (perhaps fortunately for the club :-) and don't have all the information, especially the so-called evidence and the legal opinions on our probability of success. But we move on, and within a few months, all of this will be forgotten, especially if we win a few games early in the season.

Gee Old I would have thought this was a pretty good day for the MFC and its Board and admin.

$500 000 loss Redleg!

Not sure what a bad one would be?

Think i might start a countdown to when cuddles gets his job back

Anyone know the exact date when in feb 2014?

We haven't done religion here so how about some Psalm 49:-

Do not be overawed when others grow rich, when the splendor of their houses increases; for they will take nothing with them when they die, their splendor will not descend with them.

Loses a little from the original but it sums up the final result nicely.

Don't think I have a reply WJ

How about Micah 7:8 "Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me."

I don't think 1 banana has done it for me.

Still looks to be the same god unholy mess as when I retired last night but now we have a gambling commission investigation.

Not much fun left in being a Dees supporter.

wonder what else I could do in winter that offers less pain.

Jeez we've been copping some Flack!

Our development has been stunted

and we've had more quiet achievers than BP's disaster unit.

"Just Dont Say" CC is on paid leave and Mr Clean has wiped the evidence clean off the Whiteboard ,which has been put in the vault for good .

We have a fit team on a Misson.

The world hates us and we are broke as usual .

We have nothing to lose but our minds.

Bring on round one .

I think mine surrendered on February 19th 2013.

Why does everyone around me have on white coats!

Gee Old I would have thought this was a pretty good day for the MFC and its Board and admin.

To some it might be Redleg. But I can understand the confusion of many. The final outcome from the governing body (The AFL) is that we didn't tank and didn't go out to deliberately lose games having considered all the evidence, and I can live with that . But the $500K (third largest AFL fine handed out) and the suspensions of key coaching/managerial staff is damning.

The information from the regular meeting in the vault should never have come to light. That's where the blame should lie in all this.

Four people came forward, and informant among the club allegedly supplied information to Caroline Wilson. Then there was Brock McLean. Our club has had backstabbing snitches with gripes. These people would rather battle for power or bring someone down than see this club prosper in pursuit of a flag. It's virtually unheard of at other powerful AFL clubs.

These are the people who should be in the spotlight. These are the people who are holding this club back now. The Board have been cleared, the CEO was exonerated after all the collated evidence. These people I speak of have Connolly and Bailey's blood on their hands, not to mention a $500K noose around the clubs neck.

  • GAMEDAY: Fremantle

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
